THIS WASHER GOES OFF BALANCE ALMOST EVERY LOAD, EVEN THOUGH I CAREFULLY POSITION THE CLOTHES. MAKES A LOT OF NOISE. PRICE WAS GOOD. LOTS OF GOOD FEATURES BUT STILL STRUGGLING WITH IT AND HAVE OWNED FOR ALMOST 3 MONTHS.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A very pleasant surprise

My wife is a maniac about clothes washing (she does not allow me to be involved except to transport the hampers). When our old washer died unexpectedly, we couldn't consider a front load because she needed to be able to open the lid during the cycle to see and touch the clothes. This model, great price, great reviews, floated to the top of our consideration. If we spent more, we would have gotten more cycles but not much else (what's the use of a "baby blanket" cycle if you don't have babies?).
The first time she used the washer, it freaked her out because the water barely covers the clothes - she was used to the clothes swimming in a sea. The amount of soap that she added was comparatively miniscule to what she was used to in our old washer. When the clothes were being agitated, it was slow and controlled - not like the mayhem she was used to with our 7 year old washer that had a central agitator column. The first couple of times she did loads, it gave her fits. She was very apprehensive and kept saying that she was not sure this was going to do the job.
My wife has successfully completed her break-in period and has reached a few very important conclusions: 1) this washer is the bomb! 2) Clothes are getting at least as clean as she expects, 3) the whole water level thing has become a matter of marvel that clothes actually can get clean with so little water, 4) this washer squeezes out more water in the spin cycle than our old washer, but because she is able to do fewer/larger loads, the drier time per load is the same (with fewer/larger loads), and finally, 5) although at 5 feet tall, my wife has had some challenges reaching clothes at the bottom of the tub - this is not a deal breaker since she calls me in when she needs help - we continue to enjoy the capacity since we have a king-sized bed.
Assuming this washer is not a repair nightmare (we have had no issues so far in our >1 month of ownership), this might be the best washer we have ever had.

Absolutely Fantastic!

Fantastic machine. Easy installation. Up and washing in under 10 minutes. Absolutely the easiest washer I have ever had. It is so quiet than I often forget I am washing. Clothes are very clean and the spin dry is so effective I have cut my drying time in half. Only wish I had bought this machine when it first came out.
The main reason I considered this machine was because Consumer Reports had ranked it #1. As usual, Consumer Reports was right on. Thank you Consumer Reports and thank you LG.

Cleans even a Farmers wardrobe!

I have been looking for a new washer for awhile but loved my old agitator one and just kept fixing it till I could not do it anymore. I knew I did not want a front load as they did not clean very dirty clothes as my mother, sister and mother in-law are not real happy with theirs (and they are all farmers and get pretty dirty). So I have had this set for 4 months now and love them! The water actually covers the clothes and gets them clean. My family lives in the country and my husband farms so I have grease, mud, etc... On our clothes. I still pretreat everything like I always did but things are a lot cleaner and smell great! The clothes are spun to almost dry to the touch. I do like there is a speed wash for things that are not that dirty or if you are in hurry. The controls are easy to read and access as they are up front. The one thing I make sure I do think that may not last is the dispenser tray make sure you have it closed when putting clothes in may get hung up on it in the out position and could break and need replaced. So far I am very happy with this purchase!

Congrads LG --The best washer I've ever owned

This washer is such a great improvement over washers of the past and present. I love the cold water features available on all cycles. My clothes come out cleaner than with hot or warm water. The machine is very quite while running and I like hearing the signal when the wash finishes. It's a great value and reasonable price to pay for peace of mind.

Best Washer I've Ever Owned
on October 28, 2013

I'm a guy. I like muscle cars, football, baseball, cigars, beer and now this LG washing machine.
My wife and I picked up this washer about 6 months ago and I am really amazed on how well it works. I never would have thought that I would be giving a gushing review about a washing machine but here I am.
Maybe it's because we've had such horrible machines in the past but this thing is the quietest, most efficient and easiest machine I've ever used. I'm wondering if people who say the machine isn't quiet have a defective washer. I only say this because I often have to peek my head in the laundry room to see if it's actually running.
With the tap of a few buttons you can do anything from changing the water temperature to selecting the soil level of the clothes. Adding bleach and fabric softener is a no-brainer.
The HE soap seems to work just fine for us--then again we're not filthy slobs so that might have something to do with it. We don't nearly have to buy soap as often, that's for sure.
The glass top is a nice feature that allows you to see what's going on. The lid features a "soft close" hinge so it won't slam down. There is also a vent you can open up on the lid that allows moisture to escape and prevents that mildew smell.
All the buttons and controls for the washer have been moved from the far side to right in front. Makes a lot of sense to me!
Overall, I'm very satisfied.

This is the best washer we've ever owned.

We are extremely happy with our washer. The controls are well placed and easy to understand. It is the quietest machine we've ever had. The washed clothes never come out of the machine all tangled and the spin cycle leaves the clothes so dry that we find that we can also save money because the dryer takes less time and energy to dry them.
