Review on both Washer & Dryer
on December 3, 2014

LG Model: DLG1102W - 7.3 cu. ft. Dryer (Gas)
LG Model: WT1101CW - 4.3 cu. ft. Washer
PURCHASE DATE: 10/17/2014
Although I am crazy mad in love with my 7.3 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity Top Load Dryer (the best dryer I have ever owned), I am still trying to accept my 4.3 cu. ft. Large Capacity Top Load Washer Front Control Panel and the low water level. I always wash just about everything on the Bulky/Bedding cycle because the tub fills up with water all the way. On all the other settings the water level barely covers the clothes (of course I stare into the glass top to watch the washing process) and I keep seeing the same clothes on the top that don't seem to go down into the water. I hope someone can explain this process.Till I feel clothes are being washed at the cycle the washer buttons suggest, I am not comfortable with the water level on Cotton, Heavy Duty, etc. All and all they are both heavy duty, well made appliances and very quiet. Still would recommend. J. Gambill

Flawless

This machine has exceeded my expectations. Its large capacity allows me to double the size of laundry loads than my old machine handled and finishes in less amount of time. I've not had a sour smelling load yet like the old front loader caused. It's so much more quiet, and my clothes are coming out cleaner - no dingy soapy feel at all. The load selection presets work perfectly and are simple to use but also easy to adjust if needed. Using less water and detergent is money saving bonus.

My 13+ year old washer bit the dust so I had to get a new one. This washer was the 4th ranked top-load HE washer and also ranked as a best value by Consumer Report so we checked it out. I had wanted a front loading washer but it wouldn't have fit in my laundry room because of clearance needed by the laundry room door.
I couldn't be happier!! My clothes are coming out so much cleaner than before. They are drying much faster now also. The self-determining water level makes me feel better when I have to do a smaller load. It appears to be very flexible as far as what types of loads you are doing, also. The lack of the center column that was present in my old washer is a definite plus. I no longer have things that get caught in the agitator and either get stretched out or start unraveling! The fact that it needed special HE detergent threw me at first, but nowadays it appears the vast majority of detergents are HE so it's not a problem - nor a big price increase. The almost best part is the fact that I no longer have to guess if the load is done. Not only do I get a minute countdown display if I happen to be passing by; I get a pretty little melody when the load is finished. One of my other favorite features is the fact that I can put a load in at night and set the machine to wash it the next morning so that it's finished when I get up and I can then immediately hang clothes outside should I so chose. The only downside is that I have to stand on tippy-toes to reach small things on the bottom when they're finished, such as socks etc. Somebody suggested I get one of those extension grabber thingies (very technical term - I know....) but so far I can get things out on my own.
I would recommend this washer to anybody. I'm very pleased with it!

Clothes and blanket are not completely cleaned
on February 16, 2015

I used front load before and just changed to the new front load washer 'cause the reviews and the seller told me that this model is very popular. I moved to a new place where I need to place them on the basement. I concerned about the rubber on the front load will get mold then I decided to buy the top load. (My previous place the washer is placed where the sunlight can dry out the washer and I had been using it for 4 years) I was disappointed because I washed my queen size blanket which only 2 layers (with nothing stuffed inside such as down or polyester) came out not clean. There's lots of dust stick on the blanket. I tried many ways such as bulk feature, used heavy soil, extra rinse and even rinse and spin again after end first load but still the dust all over the blanket. I want to know how I can get rid them out. I wish I could exchange or return to the front load. I watched the washer while it was working. It uses less water and sprays water on the cloths only one time rinse and then spin. I'm not sure about the clothes will be completely cleaned. I found out when it washed the blanket and see the dust where the water and spin time couldn't reach and wash it cleaned.

I really like this washer! Especially the lack of spindle in the center to grab straps on shirts and stretch them out. I've only had one issue with the load balance thing that previous reviewers have mentioned, and it was with a large bulky load. My only issue has been it doesn't do the greatest job getting extremely dirty clothes clean. It just doesn't agitate enough. So my husbands greasy clothes always get run through twice. Other than that, I have no problems with it!

This is by far the BEST washing machine I have ever owned. I bought this LG washing machine because of the LG quality and once again they out did themselves. Its washes the cloths so good and the best thing is you don't even know the washing machine is running and gets the clothes so clean. My son is needing new washing machine and is getting one just like this. I would recommend this washing machine to anyone!

Disappointed

Usually a positive person I feel it necessary to comment on my disappointment with our LG washer. Consistantly (1of3 loads) reads "UNBALANCED" no matter load size. Can't leave unattended as a result. Must stand at machine when cycles change to readjust if necessary. Timer may read 1:15 for heavy duty load but will take 1:45. My fault for not registering when bought in 2013, lesson learned.
Pros: Performance

This product needs work.

This washer is a pain in the butt. I'd estimate over 50% of the loads require attention due to an unbalanced condition. I'd read some reviews about this prior to purchasing and just thought they were doing something wrong, machine not leveled, whatever, but I found that these reports were accurate. Sometimes it takes several clothing redistributions to get something the washer likes. Sometimes loads that appear to be spinning fine will decide the load is unbalanced after several minutes of spinning. Other times loads that make the washer visibly shake finish without a problem. If you like playing with your washer for hours while trying to finish a load then this is the washer for you. Otherwise move on. BTW, the washer does clean wonderfully, if/when you can actually get it to finish.
Pros: unbalanced
