unhappy, considering returning machine

Regarding the front panel buttons and options: It is unnessarily complicated. There is a power button and a seperate start/pause button. I frequently hit the power button when I mean to hit the pause button. In which case, I have to re-power it, and go through all the options to re-select the type of load I have and the settings. There is no one button to select the type of load. Instead, you have to hit "select" over and over until your load type is high-lighted. There is no way to save your settings either. I like to use liquid fabric softener in most every load. However, for each load I wash, I have to tell it that I am using the softener in a seperate selection process. Also, I almost always have to tell it to spin the clothes on high rather than medium.
Regarding the actual functionality of the washer: It does not seem to spin the clothes fully, even with the spin settings on high. My clothes come out very heavy still with water and I end up having to dry them longer. So the High Efficiency on the front end does not make up for the super long dry times on the back end. In addition, the tray in which the detergent and fabric softener goes feels flimsy and I fear that it will break early in the washer's life.
On a positive note, if the washer gets unbalanced, it seems to be able to balance itself out in my absence.

This machine is very large capacity and I like the way it determines the load size for you. It is also very quiet compared to my old machine. The only negative thing I find is the way it goes off balance easy and registers uneven load. If I am doing bedding or several pair of jeans it keeps stopping in the spin cycle. Very aggravating when I have to keep adjusting the load.

Seems unnecessarily complicated

I have never in my life seen a washing machine go through so many steps to wash clothes! It does countless starts, stops, jiggles and spins. The term that comes to mind is "Rube Goldberg". The water level barely covers the clothes and is not adjustable. The spin is ultra sensitive to being unbalanced. A family member is incontinent, so we need to wash waterproof bed pads, but we can't wash them in this machine. All I want to do is wash clothes! My old "obsolete" machine filled as much water as I wanted, washed everything I wanted, the way I wanted, and lasted 20 years. This new LG, in my opinion, is a repair call waiting to happen! I have used the machine about 6-8 times and I really wish I had known enough to buy a plain, old style, machine that just does the job.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The LG washing machine is easy to use and cleans our clothes the best of any washing machine that we have owned. In addition, the clothes come out without wetness that we've seen in other washing machines. Our LG also can hold many more items than we have been able to wash previously. In addition, the LG has a number of additional features and is also energy efficient. These features are very important to us. Even the music played at the end of the wash is a nice touch. (It would be great if the music could be made louder so that I would be able to hear it from upstairs).

Great machine for washing clean clothes

After using my machine for a few months - I have found that it is a great machine for washing clean clothes. Not so much for dirty ones though.
My laundry consists of some pretty dirty items. Farm life gets that way. I have found that on several occasions, jeans come out of the machine about as dirty as they went it. Mud still caked on the hems, etc. This even happens when I select heavy duty, etc.
I can get them somewhat clean by either washing them twice, or "tricking" the machine to fill with more water than it would normally do.
I also spend a lot of time babysitting it, because even a medium load of towels will throw it off balance. Seems like it can take all day to wash a couple loads of laundry.
Bottom line -if your laundry actually has "dirty" items in it - don't buy this one.

This washer did not clean my clothes.

We had to rewash and retreat any item of clothing with a drop of food. It would come out of the washer looking like water didn't even get to it. I returned it. We did not like it.

This washer meets all of my criteria. It supplied adequate water at the temperature I select and in accordance with the load size. It is quiet and has never yet had an unbalanced load.
The built-in cycles are very adequate for me. I have used a custom cycle and it was easy to set up. All in all a very good machine.

Great machine

I was looking forward to my new washing machine, but didn't expect to fall in love with it! It's quiet, efficient, and staggering how many clothes can go in one load. I have a family of 4 and am amazed at how much time I've saved with the extra capacity. I think it's also good for my old dryer, because the clothes are more wrung out when I put them in to dry. I love the time delay feature, too. I can get a load ready in the morning, but not start the wash cycle until afternoon so that the damp clothes are not sitting all day long, but they're ready for the dryer when I get home from work.
