Constantly out of balance

Do not be fooled by the sizable drum or the direct drive anti-vibration technology -- you can't fill the drum more than a third of the way full without it going out of balance. I do an average of 7 loads per week and generally 5 of them are out of balance, requiring me to constantly monitor the load and redistribute wet clothing. This is the worst washer I've ever had in 30 years in terms of balance. Other than that, it performs well, but unless you enjoy standing in your laundry room and playing with wet clothes all day, avoid.

This washer has performed very well and gets our clothes quite clean! Also this unit is very quiet, I have the matching dryer and it is equally as good. They are also very classy.

Truly Exemplary Washer!

I did a ton of research before buying this product and really wondered if it would live up to my standard. With a large family we put a lot of wear and tear into our appliances. I am, and will stay, a loyal owner of this machine. Everything is exemplary. The only minute issue I have ever had, is on the cotton normal cycle, it does use a little too close to not enough water. I know the purpose is to not use too much, and the clothes still turn out clean, but a little more would be nice. Just use the bulky cycle if you absolutely feel like its not enough.
Pros: Performance, Quality

Surpassed my expectations

I'm very happy with this LG H.E. washer, the difference in cleaning is very noticeable especially in dish towels. I use only detergent, no presoaking or bleach or additives and there is no residual odor at all. They are so clean that they also dry better.( more thirsty) The washer uses a slow spin to cycle the water/detergent mix through the cloth fibers in many directions. Because the water just covers the clothes, there is less water than in regular washers and the ratio of detergent to water is higher so the cleaning is very thorough. The rinse cycle also pushes clean water through the fabrics so there is no residual detergent left and I can tell because clothes are softer and not stiff like my other washer. I line dry so any residual detergent made the towels like cardboard and that doesn't happen anymore with this LG. One thing I noticed was that the leveling is very important. Since the top slopes downward to the front, the setup guys did not know how to level it front to back; they only leveled from side to side. The web site shows how to do this and it made a big difference toward having the machine spin very smoothly, which at 1100 rpm is something you really want. I also really like the fact that there is no agitator column so I can wash comforters and now king size sheets don’t get all wrapped around the axel. I would definitely buy this washer again!

This was my first time buying a brand new washer. I always would by a used one and since i was tired of them breaking down all the time and getting clothes stuck in the middle funnel i finally decided to by a new one. And I'M TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH MY WASHER!!!!! The kids love that they can watch the tub fill up threw the glasses, i love that it is so quiet cant even hear it. It has so many options to better care for your clothes. My clothes and towels come out sooooo much cleaner and softer and i can actually finish a weeks worth of laundry in a matter of 2-3 hours. That says a lot since we are a family of 5 and i have a daughter who thinks she needs to change herself 50 times a day!! I highly recommend this product to any one. You will not regret it.

Do not buy this washer!
on April 28, 2014

I purchased this washer in May 2013 and have had nothing but trouble. It is suppose to have True Balance technology and be water efficient, but does neither. It has an uneven load issue and will keep refilling with water to try and even the load. After several times of filling with water it will eventually stop the load, then flash a Ue code to let you know that you now have to even the load yourself. My washer is in my basement so therefore I have to babysit it every time I wash clothes to prevent it from filling with water and also to keep redistributing the clothes otherwise my clothes will never make it through a complete cycle. I have tried everything to get my clothes to run a whole cycle without this disruption and nothing works. I have had repair people out to look at it and they say it is how the washer is made, there is nothing they can do to fix this. My best advise is do not buy this washer, LG has also been hard to deal with to resolve this issue. I have also heard other complaints on this washer, so I'm not the only one. This washer is terrible!

UNBALANCED, LONG WASH TIMES, WASTES WATER
on January 25, 2015

We purchased this November 2013. I hate it. I dread doing laundry. Every load I do will be unbalanced and stop. I have to manually move my clothes around hoping that it becomes unbalanced, which I won't really know until it spins, rinses and fills with water again. A normal cycle is supposed to take just less than an hour. It takes AT LEAST 2x that. At least! My bill for water use has risen about $5/ month since getting this machine. Empty, the machine does not rock or tilt. The surface it sits upon is stable. Do not buy this machine!
Pros: Style/Design

This will Help if you have Unbalanced errors
on January 31, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] OK , I had the same unbalanced load error problem that develop after one year of not having issues with my LG washer. For the last month it took me over 3 hours to do a load because of unbalanced load issues. I then googled this and realized how many more people had the same issues and I asked why I bought this washer with so many problems reported. So I reread the owners manual and decided to level the washer as instructed in the manual from side to side and front and back. I then watched a tutorial on LG's website on how to load the washer and another on how the machine operates, thus I was able to understand loading the machine with heavy things first was so important. They also had tips on zippering your pant up and other ideas to help the machine do its job. I then pushed my washer up tight to the wall and put the dryer right next to it so it created a tight fit.. I then proceeded to do six loads
and have had no issue with the unbalanced load error coming up. I hope this may eliminate a service call for other people and now I am once again a fan of my LG washer.
