3+ Years & Couldn't Be Happier

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this upright LG washer April 2015 and still love it. Using liquid All or Tide, it effectively cleans most of our small, 2-person size loads in the short cycle that lasts about 30 minutes. It's 1000 maximum spin speed Direct Drive motor wrings out so much water that a 25 minute dryer cycle is normal for these loads. We can complete drying one load while another is washing! Also very quiet. We felt it was a good value for what was important to us - effective & fast cleaning.
Pros: Features/Settings, Performance, Quality

Worst washer design ever
on December 30, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Girlfriend bought this washer dryer pair. The dryer great. Washer sucks, constantly out of balance when it spins, refills during rinse cycle multiple times to attempt to balance load, rarely ever successfully. Cant take several hrs to complete a load if it ever does. Usually it shuts with after several refills due to out of balance error codes. Told her that if I move in with her, this washer gets thrown out the back door before I move in one item.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Interestingly, I've had absolutely no problem with the uneven balance error. The high spin speed and its stability are the only things I like about this machine and maybe the only reason I haven't thrown it out!
My problems with it:
-No manual override to any of its automatic settings
-Cannot change any setting once a cycle has started and attempting to do so requires turning it off and back on which automatically drains the drum
-The pause button has a time limit, maybe 10-15mins, before it automatically drains the drum
-No way to manually add water or control water level in any way and water level is its biggest flaw as the quality of clothes agitation is totally dependent on it. There are only two levels this machine chooses, far too little or way too much and neither work. When water level is too low the clothes dont tumble and those at the bottom can get torn from getting beaten by the churning wheel or whatever called. With water level too high, clothes still wont tumble and just float around doing nothing.
-extra rinse option must be used every load or clothes will have soap on them
I bought this machine used so I can't return it, etc. My fix for the manual addition of water to correct level without having to pause it: Take the folding handle off (this fix wouldn't be possible without this stupid feature, the glass lid is also helpful here) so that theres access for a hose to add water with. Put a 2 way splitter on the valve before the washer hose on the wall to connect another washer hose to. Use the valve on the splitter to add extra water with the hose through the hole from the absent lid handle. Removing the handle is a bit tricky and also requires the placement of a strong magnet over the sensor behind the control panel before any cycle will run.
It's kind of a pain and I wish I had my 20yr old washer that worked much better than this high tech piece of junk.

That's terrible to know you've encountered such unfortunate circumstances when dealing with your purchase of the WT1101CW. I too would be baffled at the thought of only having the unit just several months and facing multiple difficulties. Wow! I do appreciate your feedback on this matter, If you're in need of guidance or support reach out via Twitter at @LGUSSupport or Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LGUSSupport. Thanks! ^ CS

Amazing how little parts and pieces shatter JUST AFTER 1 year warranty runs out. NEVER buying ANY LG again. (Washer lid hinges broke, rendering unit USELESS)

Washer failed in 4 years.

There are only 2 of us using this washer and it failed before 5 years. Luckily we purchased the 5 year extended plan from Lowe's otherwise we'd be out more money. The problem is that the drain motor keeps running even after the unit is powered off. We had to physically unplug the unit from the wall to get the motor to stop running. Repair guy who's coming out called and after we described the symptom to him said the control board is bad and new one needs to be ordered. Now probably looking at a week without a washer.
4 years? Really... They don't make them like they used to.

Brown/black "flakes" on clothes every wash!
on September 5, 2019

We purchased this washer 5 years ago. The washer is getting brown/black flakes on our clothes after almost every wash. We've done everything we can do (and that has been recommended) with no resolution. These flakes are almost impossible to get off and if we can get them off without ruining the clothes it takes another washing--which may end up with more flakes on it! Besides this issue we've been happy with the washer but this issue makes it worthless really. Getting ready to by a new washer...and it won't be a LG unfortunately. We have not been happy with the response from LG or Sears (where we purchased the washer) on the issue.

We hate to see you are having this issue with your washing machine. We would recommend running a tub clean cycle to remove any buildup in the unit. You can find information on this here: http://www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/CT10000010-20150635948425-maintenance
