I was skeptical that any top-loader could perform without a center post. Additionally, we read some reviews of these types of machines not using enough water for large loads or doing poorly with small loads, etc. Also, my wife frequently adds clothes after the machine has started and we wondered how the locking lid would allow it? Then there was the issue of longer cycle times compared to our traditional center post top-loader. We bought our LG washer two months ago with the intention to take it back within the 30-day trial period if it didn't perform. With a household of 8, the large capacity was a must, yet my wife regularly does small loads for certain types of clothes too. My college age boys are rough on a machine, they usually stuff the washer full with very little sorting. One of the big tests came when they came home for break with what seemed like everything they took to school. My son asked on me to do his wash as he ran out the door. At first, I was going to refuse, but then I looked at it and said, "Let's see if this machine can handle this!" I put the whole batch in at once, no sorting, loosely filling it to the top, selected the cold water normal cycle and added the HE detergent and some fabric softener. I watched through the glass lid. It "analyzed the load" and I watched to see if it put in enough water, it did. I watched the wash cycle for a while. Would that rhythmic swishing really wash the clothes? As I left, I wondered if it would go out of balance during the spin. When I came back it was all done, NO PROBLEM. Well, are they clean? I took them out examining them, looks OK. After drying them, I examined them as I folded, looks good. Another test was the comforter from our king-sized bed...not a problem. It handled it along with the sheets using the "bulky" cycle. My wife has done multiple small loads during this time. Not a problem. Very satisfied with the results. Ok with adding clothes, ok on cycle times (has a short cycle too), additionally, the clothes have less moisture in them due to high spin speed. We have not had a single issue with it. Now, what if LG could make a folding machine....?
Did quite a bit of research before buying this appliance. For the price it was a great deal. Had a front loader before this, and would not recommend one to anyone. This washer is quiet, has many different cycle combinations and looks great in it's space.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality
I have owned this washer for just over a month. After reading previous reviews I was nervous about not being able to wash small loads and also loads being unbalanced, I can tell you I have had NO problems. If you follow the instructions in the manual you will be fine. I have not used all of the features yet but there seems to be a good amount. If you are looking for a super fancy steam washer, this isn't it, but if you are looking for a washer that can wash big, small, very soiled, lightly soiled, any type of load, is simple to use and not too expensive, this is it!
I really love my new LG washer and it holds a lot and its a joy to wash clothes now. I do wish the cycle over indicator was a lot louder, but it does give you how much time the cycle will take so its ok.
I have had this washing machine for 6 weeks now and I have used it a lot because I have 5 kids. I love the different choices in cycles and the way the machine gets the clothes clean! I feel like I really got a great washing machine at a really good price. I love the controls being in the front of the machine and I love the glass top!
We were very pleased with the over all performance. I had read some review good and bad. I found the bad remark were unsound do to lack of experience with newer type washer. The unit wash very well pillows and heavy bed spreads. Lot the bad remark is they haven't had wash doesn't have big agitator or uses less water. *So do your research and ask sale person question first before you buy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!!

This washer seems to have a lot of potential but is not user-friendly. The owners manual does not give enough information about the different cycles and there is no explanation for what each cycle does. This would be good to know so you don't have to actually run each cycle to choose the one that will work for the clothes you are washing. Once you have started washing the clothes and realize that it is not doing what you thought it would you can't change anything without messing up that cycle. I have had it not spin the water out at the end of the cycle and then have to manually choose 'spin only" to finish the load of clothes. There is an option to add more water but when I choose that it automatically adds an extra rinse which I don't want. Nowhere in the instructions does it give you an explanation on how to do one without the other. I am very frustrated with this washing machine and will never purchase another one.
