Looks great, washes awful

I am very unhappy with my purchase of this washer. I have had it 4 weeks and am returning it. While there appear to be a lot of bells and whistles and the design is appealing, it does not do a goodjobof washing clothes. It determines the water usage and you cannot override it. There is never enough water in the tub to cover the clothes. There is no agitator and as you look through the cool see through top, the clothes are barely moving around and therefore are not coming out as clean as my old washer. The washer gets off balance easily and you have to stop it and shift the clothes. The wash cycle is alsoa lot longer than I am used to as the washer is stopping so often to weigh the clothes to determine the water level. I appreciate the efficiency but I want my clothes clean.
Pros: Style/Design

Have to baby sit this washer

I find that this washing machine requires a lot of attention. Loads never get done in a timely fashion and requires intervention to balance the load regardless of the size. Very disappointed with this appliance.

Pretty Disappointed

We bought this after my washer I had for ten years started leaking at random times. Tried to be good and go energy efficient but this machine just doesn't seem to clean the clothes, they come out stained and just dingy and dirty. I read the manual and have tried the extra rinse which only makes the extremely long cycle time longer. It helps some but just isn't that great. I'm just really bummed that I paid this much for a washing machine that is no where near as good as my old school machine was. Then to top it off you cannot wash water proof or resistant products. So no mattress pad for my toddler??? You are not allowed to wash bath mats or kitchen mats either... just disappointed! The dryer however is fantastic!

Love front control panel That was my motivation to purchase--- BUT need a ladder to reach the bottom of the tub. Also, even though I use the washer "cleaner" it still " stinks". I'd think again about purchasing the washer Dryer is fine

Washer does not balance well
on December 23, 2014

I have had this washer for about 8 months. I continue to have issues on the spin cycle with an "unbalanced load" error. The only way for the washer to finish a cycle without this error is to fill it up quite high with clothing, etc. to create a heavy load and have all items of the same type (e.g., no mixing of towels and underwear). This is a real usability issue for our family since I have small kids and sometimes need to run small loads or loads with multiple types of items. You also cannot wash waterproof items like waterproof mattress pads in this washer - thus it is not a good choice for someone with a potty-training child. When the washer gets an unbalanced error, it fills up with water and swishes the clothing around to rebalance. In the process it twists the clothes quite a bit, and has damaged my clothing several times. It uses a lot of water in the meantime, and extends the wash time to almost 2 1/2 hours sometimes. I believe this is an issue with the design since I have had a tech come out to look at the washer, and he said it is operating fine (and that an unbalanced error is not uncommon).

Soooo dissappointed...

I have this machine less than two years and it is constantly saying UE. It takes hours to get through one load! Then I realized that it is the agitator that has the problem. I had it repaired 3 weeks ago and now we are starting with the same UE problem and I reach down, the agitator is loose again. Here comes another repair! Also, when you try to purchase the replacement part it is out of stock. That tells me that there is a high demand for it. I believe that this machine is defective!
Pros: so dissappointed in lg

Recommend with hesitancy and reservations.

Main issue I have is it doesn't clean as well as needed for clothes that are actually dirty. This was the entire reason I bought a new washing machine. Despite adding extra Advanced Power Bleach AlternativeTide, applying it liberally directly on soiled areas, using heavy soil cycle and related options, mud still remained on the clothes AFTER washing even though only a couple of items were washed in the load.
Also, some cycles seem unexpectedly hard on fabrics which caused shrinkage. This was also compounded by matching dryer that seems to run hotter than expected.
Machine is not designed for shorter people. I'm 5'3" and can barely reach the bottom of the machine to get the clothes out if I reach from the side of the machine on tip toes as high as I can.
Warning label on top of machine says "Be sure to earth the washer to avoid electric shock." What is meaning of "earth" in this sentence? Ground?
Best part of the new machine is the pleasant tone at the end of the cycle, but it's not enough to compensate for the aggravation of having to wash clothes multiple times to get them clean which also negates any claimed benefits of high efficiency, water savings and cost savings. I should have bought an inexpensive old style agitator washing machine that would have gotten the clothes clean and taken half the time and probably used the same amount of water and power in one cycle instead of over several cycles and with less aggravation. I'm disappointed in my choice.
I bought this in mid-April 2015. I am seriously considering getting rid of it and replacing with agitator type washing machine.

Beware - limitations on what you can wash!

I bought this based on its Consumer Reports rating. Boy was that a mistake. I'd give this zero stars if the tool would let me. This washing machine has huge inadequacies that make its use a time-consuming, life sucking waste.
Unless you only wash medium sized loads that contains items of all the same weight, don't buy this machine. You get the 'UE' error - uneven load if you try to wash:
1. small loads
2. large loads
3. bulky items
I feel like I've tried everything with this machine, including two visits from repair men who both gave me good tips on how to get it to work for medium loads. But it just isn't well suited for average use in a busy home.
