Hated this machine from wash #1
on November 2, 2019

I was wondering why this machine had so many 5 star reviews and then I started reading them and found out some of them are reviews for TVs and microwaves! Most of the 5 star reviews for the washer are suspiciously vague. We’ve had this washer dryer combo for a number of years now. I’ve experienced all the issues that the other negative reviews mention. LONG wash times as machine drains and refills to rebalance itself. Wasted water (not so great for living in drought-ridden California) for the same reason. While others have experienced unbalanced errors with large loads, I actually have experienced these errors mostly with small loads. Now, if I don’t throw a towel in with my load, I can expect to get an UE error. Right away I noticed clothes not getting clean from normal wear. I have to pretreat EVERYTHING, panties, deodorant stains, any kind of spill! We have two cats and this machine just seems to move the hair around not really get rid of it. So now I separate my clothes into two loads—those that are more cat hair covered and those that are not—to try to reduce the amount of cat hair removal that needs to be done for my work clothes as an example. Because I have to give one star at least, I will say that the spin cycle gets most of the water/wetness out of the clothes. Im glad to see this thing discontinued. Wish we wouldn’t have bought it. Sucks that it costs so much money and is such a pain and expense to get rid of and replace!

Washer builds up mold!
on November 21, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this washer for about 6 years now. I've noticed a horrible smell from the washer inside the tub. I've run the tub clean about 3 times. I took out the tray for where you pour in the laundry detergent and saw that the underside of the tray has tons of mold! Then I looked underneath the rim of the top of the drum and noticed mold buildup as well which I can't get to because it's hard to get anything in there to scrub it clean. And there's other places where I have mold growing as well! I tried cleaning all the areas that I could and reran the tub clean. Then reran a load of clothes but they still stink! It seems cleaning the washer is a pain in the you know what! We do follow LG's recommendation of leaving the top cover open to let it dry out after each load but it doesn't seem to help enough. If I didn't leave that cover open, I'd probably have this issue in the first year perhaps, who knows! I'd recommend not buying a high-efficiency washing machine like this one and just go with a conventional washer. The load sensing function seems like more things that can break over time. Just give me the option to select small, medium, large, and extra large load selections so you don't need design a load sensing function into your washers, which of course frustrates lots of people on this forum. We don't need high-efficiency, we just need a washer that works! And figure out a way to vent your washers better so I don't have to wash my washer because of mold growth! The concept of having to wash your washer because of mold growth seems like a design flaw of the washer from the get-go. My last washer was 20 years old and I never had to wash it because of mold! Overall, I won't buy an LG washer because of improper venting to inhibit mold growth and also the load-sensing function.

Washing nightmare
on December 11, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From the first load it was a disaster, it pushes clothes into a wad. It acts like a tea bag pushing the dirt into the wad where it stays, leaving streaks in cloths. Needs two rinse cycles to get clothes remotely clean, Never buy another one again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this machine in 2013 & I’ve had it repaired 4 times in 7 years. Two times it was repaired for the same problem, unfortunately the part broke after the warranty expired. I have other LG appliances but my washing machine has been a lemon!
Pros: ease of use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] the washer works well enough, usually gets clothes clean, but has had to have two major repairs; the first was a new board and the second was a new hose underneath, both of which knocked it out of service for weeks.
