I absolutely regret purchasing this washer.

There are several reasons why I regret purchasing this washer.
I was not told that I could not wash matress pads, tennis shoes, rainwear or anything that is waterproof in the machine. Thanks to my new LG washer, I now have to take all of these items to the washateria.
I also have to take some of my blankets depending on the material they are constructed of to the washateria. The machine does not seem to be able to deem these items as being a balanced load and will take hours to wash and rewash them all in the name of automatically balancing the load.
The machine is advertised as a high efficiency machine that saves water. This is true with small and perfectly balanced loads. However, perfectly balanced loads are not the norm. If the machine determines that the load is unbalanced it will keep adding water to the top of the drum and attempt to rebalance the load. If I am not watching the machine carefully while it is washing, it will do this frequently.
This is a disaster because I live in an area where all homes must have septic tanks. A washing machine that frequently repeatedly fills and refills the drum to the top with water on a single load can cause major problems to a septic system. Prior to purchasing this machine I controlled the amount of water added to my septic system each day by washing no more than three loads of clothes per day. Thanks to my new LG washer, I now have to babysit each load to be sure it does not overload my septic tank by repeatedly filling the machine to the top of the drum with water so that it can balance each load.
It seems that most major manufacturers including LG determined that eliminating the agitator would allow the consumer to load much more clothing into the machine resulting a major savings in time and money. This great engineering improvement has resulted in the exact opposite impact on the consumer, i.e. more time required to monitor your washing machine and more water consumption.
One of the features of this machine is a very deep drum. This is fine for a tall person. I am a petite 5'2" woman. I now have to use long tongs to retrieve my laundry from the bottom my washing machine.
I gave this machine two stars because it does thoroughly wash and rinse what it perceives as a balanced load. My clothes seem fresher and cleaner. I could love this machine if I could wash my waterproof items in it and not have to monitor it while it washed my clothes.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great entry level washer!

After having tried the front load types we relied heavily on reviews and purchased the LG top loader. Wow! Modest cost, easy to use and great performance! We like a little more water than others so frequently use the 'Bulky/Bedding' setting which adds more water in both wash and rinse cycles. And the detergent... forget the soap bottles instructions. Washer works great and no scummy buildup using about 1/4 inch of liquid in bottle cap! Would highly recommend.
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

Doesn't clean clothing
on September 13, 2014

Owned this model for over a year now and nothing has improved. The washer has NEVER lived up to expectations from the beginning. Clothing on top of a full load never gets washed as the tumbling action of the clothing is nil to none As a result, dirty clothing comes out untouched and dirty. Water levels are also continually inconsistent with load size. Have had to add water to fill tub with a full load of clothing numerous times, otherwise would have only had a 1/2 tub of water with a full load of clothing! WOULD NOT recommend this water trough to anyone.
Pros: garbage

Clothes not clean!

Im shocked at the number of people who love this washer. The water does does not even cover the clothes so clothes dont get clean. Low water levels are normal for this machine. Average wash time is 50 minutes for one load. I have to add water to each load. Such a dissappointment and waste of $$$. It sound like a jet on the spin cycle.

This washing machine is a lemon.

Having a mind of its own, this washer will spin and refill, spin and refill, for hours. I have to stand by and pause it when it stops spinning, stop the machine and pull out the soggy clothes to be dried for hours. I will never buy another LG product.
Pros: Style/Design

Horrible washer.....constantly have to rebalance.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unless you are washing a very small load, the "True Balance" does NOT work. We spend more time manually rebalancing, more water since it try's to rebalance with filling the tub each time it stops the cycle due to unbalanced. If we could we would exchange out to another unit. Stay away from this one!!!

Its Awful!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is always off balance. Our water bill has gone up a ton since it refills to get itself off balance. Each load takes about three hours by the time it is done:(
