PERFECT FOR ACTIVE SENIOR'S LIFESTYLE
on August 18, 2013
Posted by: BeJay
If you are like me, it's a great time of life... retired senior with four grandchildren under 5 years old, my photography has begun to coalesce around: grandkid portraits / parties / milestones; and exotic travel / adventure trips; together with a renewed interest in photography as a hobby.
But, life is not always that idyllic, with age have also come eyesight and dexterity limitations that caused me to put aside my DSLR and my camcorder to seek the ideal instrument -- a prosumer-level pocket-sized powerhouse -- first the RX100/B and now the RX100M2/B.
[I had my RX100 for a full year and just traded-up to the RX100M2 this past week.]
Their extraordinary compactness and brilliant LCD display make handling and portability a snap. No more squinting through a viewfinder or lugging around a stuffed camera bag, which I've often left in my room just as a great photo-op passed me by!
Sony's in-camera programs are superb. And the tiltable LCD display minimizes the stress on my neck and back. I can't wait to try out controlling the RX100M2 from my smart phone, wow.
Sony's Picture Effects can be another whole side of my art to develop. So, Net/Net, the Sony RX100M2 helps me to capture life's special moments with ease and precision-- beautiful images of a good life ... try it your self and see!

As semi-professional photographer I am a NIKON shooter. I own few lenses and shoot mostly concerts, events and high fashion. For a long time I was looking for a good small TO-GO camera that will be sharp in low light situations as I am guest on many events all over FL not only when working and covering it for local magainze but privet for my blog Miami Photo Life. From the moment I start shooting with RX100 I was ....wooooooowww what is this??? Amazing!!! Hands down! Fast, sharp, great colors, ISO on high settings looks still good, picture stabilization - outstanding!!! On my blog I post short photo review so you can have a look (http://monikaphotolife.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/5/hands-on-sony-dsc-rx100) :))) I am in love with that little Sony ! This camera is always ready to shoot in a speed of a second! :))) www.monikaphotolife.com www.miamiphotolife.com
What's great about it: small, light, great performance in low light, fast
What's not so great: fragile flash, confusing settings and missing manual
I would recommend this to a friend!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Just received 3 days ago. . I bought the camera so I could have a traveling camera, that would take quality shots on the go, without hauling my huge DSL camera & lenses. After much research, I decided on the RX-100M2. My wife takes the worst pictures and has no knowledge of cameras & their operation. She volunteered to take pictures & Video for a baby shower. I gave her a quick tutorial on the basic operation and sent her off with it, expecting the usual results (Questionable) I truly could not believe the results! The color, focus and quality of the shots were amazing!! The price for performance is wonderful and I can't wait to test this camera's advanced features if I can pry it out of her hands!.
What's great about it: Amazing quality for size & price
What's not so great: Only con is my left finger wants to rest over flash while shooting
I would recommend this to a friend!

Understandably Underrated Camera

It's a great little camera to have for vlogging and documentation. The quality is on par with some larger cameras and the audio is pretty good for an internal microphone. There are just a few aspects where I feel Sony is out of date. Firstly, the menu system is a bit much for a camera of this size. I do understand why it's there, but I also believe that a lot of the available options go unused. A simpler touch menu system would be a better choice if possible. Secondly, with other cameras supporting USB-C I don't understand why this camera does not. The majority of my equipment now uses this standard so I find it inconvenient to have to carry around a micro USB cable only for this camera. Lastly is the app. I don't use it. It's buggy and does a terrible job of transferring data. I've run tests and a 10sec clip would take me upwards of a minute to transfer. Instead, I just transfer media the traditional way with my SD card.
I really enjoy this camera for the most part. I find it to be really handy in tight situations. But I think there were a lot of missed opportunities here. A few minor tweaks could make this camera 10x better.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This compact RX 100 define my needs. I used to have a DSLR camera and I feel like a professional photographer but never had the time to learn the basic. But this packet size gadget will not just let you travel light but it will also give you the same action that professional DSLR users have. I recommend this camera for travels and nature lovers
What's great about it: everything in it. compact and travel friendly
What's not so great: flash is a little too complicated to handle. very delicate.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cybershot with great features

Fits in palm and pocket size.with many features comparable to NEX-7 without the price. Read the reviews. Found detailed Cybershot User Guide which is more useful than the Instruction Manual included. Hope there will be a downloadable pdf file. Great replacement for my Panasonic LX2.
What's great about it: Pocket size, huge megapix, tons of features
What's not so great: Pricey
I would recommend this to a friend!

What can I say just a joy to use. Low light performance and quality of images is second to none in this price range. And the build quality is superb. Well done Sony!!!
