Memory card door
on September 19, 2019

The waterproof cover for the memory card has already fallen off. I can see this will be a pain to replace. Why did Sony make this a removable piece! The memory card should be covered with a solid door that opens and closes....like the battery door!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A delight to use!

I had already enjoyed using my RX100, first generation, for work and fun photography. The RX100 II takes ultraportable, high fidelity photography to a new level, especially with wifi and phone connectivity. Love it!

Just Got The Camera
on July 31, 2013
Posted by: Ellsworth
Just got the camera. I have used the previous version of this camera for a year now and it's great. I was looking forward to the wi-fi feature of the new camera, but it's a no-go, at least if you're a Mac OSX user.
There's one thing I really hate -- us Mac users being relegated to the back of the bus insofar as software support is concerned. In this case, I go to the web link Sony has designated in the supporting documentation as the link to download the software for wi-fi for the Mac (a completely unintelligible Japanese link if you must know, or are fluent in Japanese) and I am greeted with a "File Not Found" (the only non Japanese characters on the web site) greeting.
Please don't tell me that a company as large as Sony is incapable (or unwilling) to release software support for a product for both the Windows and the Mac platform simultaneously. Very frustrating experience and it definitely does not make me want to buy a VAIO computer if that's their ulterior motive.
What's great about it: It is the best compact camera you can buy.
What's not so great: Wireless software for Mac?

Not Continuous Auto Focus
on May 2, 2019

It takes really good photos and video's but needs work. Gets confused with high contrast photos, like a bright sky behind the subject, but worst of all not continuous auto focus. If you start a video pointed at yourself and then point the camera towards something or someone else at a different distance, it or they are Out Of Focus.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Compact and sharp. High iso make low light environment shooting situation with no problem. Almost worth for the price. WiFi is a plus and playmemories apps has lots of room to improve

Great camera for its size, but pricey.
on November 27, 2014

Pros: Size, fast lens, wide angle, hyperfocal distance shots, full of features.
Cons: It is pricey, at $800 I wish it had an APS-C-size sensor, meh bokeh.
Even though it's pricey, this is a little wonder. Full of features like focus peaking, zebra, wifi, NFC, bracketing, etc. And then to top it off it has a fast lens. Better than a cellphone camera, but no competitor to APS-C and FF.
Who is this camera for? If you want RAW, more control and better image quality than a cellphone, while having a camera that is extremely portable, and you also like to share quality images online while on the go, this is the camera for you. Sometimes you don't want to carry your big DSLR to hang out with friends, but you want good pictures and memories, this is it. It doesn't have great bokeh by comparison to APS-C sensors, but it's respectable when compared to cellphone shots. It will help ignite your creative muscles in different ways.
I am having second thoughts about it when I consider what the Sony alpha 6 can do, but then again I own a Nikon D610 and I don't want to spend on a new set of lenses. Specially because I know that to get similar quality I've to spend a fortune on Zeiss. So this little guy does what I need perfectly.

RX100, Contax TVS Digital is back or even better
on July 18, 2012

Perfect in its class. This is larger sensor point and shoot camera. No hot shoe, optical view finder, fixed lens blar blar blar
My concern is below things.
1. fast operating. easy change setting even better than nex series
2. image quality is outstanding. Jpg, Arw both very good. illustration mode is much more fun.
3. very good inner flash on top. its head can be up for bounce.
4. original leather case is very nice and perfect fitted.
5. ring control is very useful.
6. image quality is very even with other mirrorless cameras.
7. body build quality is superb. there is no heavy stupid material grip. I don't care. only I know without bulky grip, it looks so sexy.
8. Minimum body design shows sony's philasophy of product design. It is not a retro It is not something else. It is just sonystyle.
What's great about it: Image Quality, Menu system, Build Quality
What's not so great: Nothing
