RX100 Gem

Can't wait to give the RX100 a full work out and take many images. Initial comments are very favourable. I am very excited to add this to my stable of Sony Cameras. If you wqant quality and not a large zoom range then this is the camera.
What's great about it: Great lines make it easy to hold, well balanced and nicely laid out controls. Great image quality
What's not so great: Don't like the charger cable door. Manual is not the greatest
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great for travel.

Over all features are great, This camera could be the perfect rugged pocket camera/action camera if it has an internal zoom lens , maybe a 24-35 mm lens or a 24-50 mm lens , where you can take portraits, snapshots and landscape where ever you go. Will also become perfect for making cinematic videos with different prime focal lengths which you can access by adding zoom buttons. A worry free travel ,where you can shoot anywhere without worrying about your camera.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Horrible Instruction Manual
on August 8, 2012

What a shame Sony couldn't do a better job developing a manual that was on par with their camera. Hopefully they will make one available on their web site. I bought the rx100 for my wife and personally use a Canon 7D, so feel qualified to say that Sony dropped the ball.
What's great about it: Best in class camera
What's not so great: Horrible instruction manual
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

ILCE-7R NOT A SPORTS CAMERA - FAST ACTION
on July 1, 2014
Posted by: jmknights
The Good: 36mb Excellent Resolution, color, sharpness.
The Bad: Extremely slow startup time. Noisy, slow focus, shutter actuation(after pushing shutter button takes extra ordinary time for shot to be taken. Quirky some times it show down right in the middle of a shot. Review button sometimes fails to activate. Poor battery life and expensive at $79.00
I have A99,A77,A900,A700,A100, RX100 and Nex5 to compare it to. If could have the low light capability, 36mb,resolution, and speed of my A99 or A900 I would be a very happy camper. For landscapes, portraits etc.; it is a great camera for a sport photographer it just doesn't cut it!

Nice shot! thank you for sharing that with us! As for the technical issues you're experiencing, I recommend visiting http://esupport.sony.com/ for troubleshooting tips.
I bought this little camera before a trip to Sicily last September. I tested it out around Aspen before I went shooting timelapses and wide-angle photos of Maroon Bells. It was the perfect addition for Italy. I used it underwater while snorkeling around Favignana and as my behind the scenes camera when I was shooting sunrise and sunsets around the islands. This little camera also served me well on my 30 Days of Dawn photo challenge. I had it setup shooting timelapse images of me shooting sunrise from a variety of locations. On a recent trip to Japan it died halfway through week one. It's in the shop now and I hope it was an anomoly. I miss it in my reptoire.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Raw files can't be seen on Mac, PS5, etc

Get it together Sony and update your communication wit Mac, PS, LR etc
Excellent pictures. Camera is solid and menu is not hard to understand even for me. I am not technically savvy. Although I know a lot about photography I get lost when I try to figure out electronic cameras. But this one irrelatively easy to figure out and has some actual buttons for features only accessible on menus not other cameras.
