Really, Sony? Are you kidding?

This camera takes great pictures and has many amazing features... but how could Sony not pay attention to detail?
Seriously!
You can't adjust the timer for more than 10 seconds! Sometimes I want to take a picture of myself someplace; I set the timer, and I can't make it into the frame in 10 seconds. Why isn't an adjustable timer up to 30 seconds a STANDARD FEATURE? This seems like a no-brainer that Sony completely missed. But meanwhile, you can use 100 different HDR settings... great... too bad you can't use the timer in HDR! WHAT THE HECK!? How hard is it to let the camera use the timer in HDR? Canon has had that ability for YEARS!
Another problem: the so-called intelligent auto setting won't default to the "vivid/warm" color setting. Every time you turn off the camera, and turn it back on, you have to re-adjust to turn up or down the warmth/vividness settings. UGH!
I'm so disappointed with these features... mostly because it means I have to carry two cameras now, my old Canon and my new Sony, because I sure as heck can't use the worthless timer on the Sony... What a pain in the butt. Thanks Sony.

Would Like to Give It a Positive Review but....

Waited a month for this to arrive and then followed all directions to charge battery. When completed, pushed the on/off button and .... NOTHING.
This was an "out of the box" unit and I would expect there to be some quality check to insure that it worked.
My review may be more positive if this is resolved but now the onus appears to be on me to diagnose by purchasing another battery, charger etc. to eliminate possible problems.

Hi please email sonysupportusa@am.sony.com with contact information and your proof of purchase. You should not have to buy a new battery if it did not work right out of the box. I would like to help you resolve this, I will review your file and make sure it was handled properly.

problems to download

i had problems when I tried to download the pictures because i shoot in RAW with HDR and the format ARW is not recognized in any programs like adobe and the sony program is not a good program and that my computer does not recognize. After shooting in RAW I had to change everything to JPEG which is also not compatible with my MAC so I think that RAW is no good and does not work.
What's not so great: Sony program for pictures is TERRIBLE

Why SONY WHY ? Less Features More Money ?

SONY = Why would you make this model as much as the NEX5 @ 649.99USD? Why not just merge these features into the next NEX Camera & drop the price about 649.99USD. Where is theZOOM ? You need @ Least 10x, but 20x would be better. POP UP Flash, Really.

What's great about it: Larger Image Sensor & MP, Control Ring,RAW.
What's not so great: Very Low Zoom @ 3.6x, POP UP Flash ?

It is a REQUIREMENT to purchase memory!

This camera REQUIRES a memory card, there is absolutely no internal memory. I didn't know that, nor does the manual tell you, nor does the sony store website state this, nor do the chat sales agents. Do yourself a favor and ensure you buy memory for this camera. 800 bucks with NO memory - kind of a joke.

The best point and shoot camera in th emarket

I have all three models of RX100 and it has never disappointed me. You have to see the pictures to believe the quality from a small camera like this. For me everything is perfect and justify the price of the camera.

I've loved Sony products for years, and have been a news photographer for years as well.
I've had my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX 100 for a couple of years now and still can't work it.
There are no Instructions as to how to us it. The Flash consistently "Flash Burns" subjects, and I can go on and on.
This RX100 II is just an enhanced RX100, so why would I want one of these after my negative experience with the later???
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
