Piece of Junk - Again

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought our first LG dishwasher about 4 years ago. About a year into its use it started winning and the drive broke. Had the drive replaced under warranty. We have since moved out of that house so don't know if it's still working. Stupidly, we bought the same thing for our new house and about a year into its use, it's doing the same thing. It's still under warranty, but it's going in the trash. This is obviously a problem with these things. Couple that with the fact that it doesn't clean worth c**p, the rack layout is a joke; it's not worth having this thing fixed. Never again

LOVE this DISHWASHER!!! :LG Model LDS5540WW

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was hesitant because of some of the bad reviews about it not drying the dishes well and not having something lit up that says its finished. The second part is true and not true. There is nothing lit up that says clean BUT when it is running you can see a timer going the whole time. So i know when it will be done.
As for drying the dishes it gets everything extremely dry except plastic. And I think it even drys my dishes better then my old dishwasher which had a heated cycle. Its amazing how hot the dishes are if you take them out immediately after the cycle is done.
The best part about this dishwasher is all the ways you can adjust the spaces for dishes. All the other brands do not have this option or not as good as this one. I have been able to get all my big pasta bowls in no problem. I brought my dishes into the store to make sure they would fit, i would suggest you do this too, especially if you have larger bowl. I am really glad I did this because the bowls did not fit in any other dishwasher, the spaces were too small.
One of the other complaints I read was about the dishes not standing upright. I have not had this problem but I also make sure to face them in a way where this doesn't happen. So if you just take your time and load it well your dishes will be fine.
Overall I LOVE my machine and I installed it myself and I am a woman. Yes it took me 4 hours by myself because it was delivered around 7pm (late). My kitchen was darker so it was harder to see and I would put down a tool go into another room and it would take me a while to find the tool again. The hardest part was installing the new drain line because it was a tight area and a little uncomfortable reaching under the sink and getting around the disposal. But i did it and it makes me love it even more!!! I would suggest having another person to help you install it. If I had someone there to read the instructions and hand me the proper tools, it would have taken an hour maybe an hour and a half. I also suggest you run it a few times before you seal up the bottom to make sure there are no leaks. I didn't have any leaks but still waited for a few washes to make sure it was working properly.
I did also watch installation videos on youtube and think that LG could have made a better video starting with unpacking the box (because there is a lot of extra material) with step by step directions. They go very fast in their video and do not show things close up. In this day and age it is not difficult to get out a phone camera and film someone installing it. Would be easy and helpful to other customers.
The only con is it takes 3 hours to run the machine but that hasn't been an issue so far. I usually run it at night and sometimes its done before i goto bed.
Over all I am VERY VERY happy with my purchase and proud of installing it myself. I would 100% recommend this machine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am an Idiot

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] bought this March 26th. Adjustable racks collapse all the time. The top rack doesn't' have the capacity that my ancient previous but better dishwasher did. It also still emits a bit of an off-plastic smell. And now, July 19th, the motor went out. Awesome.

This has been such a mistake!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this machine only 2 years ago. I paid cash so I didn't get a warranty. Shortly after having it professionally installed it started throwing a "NE" message. I could not find out anywhere what NE means. I had a repairmen come out and re install it because he said NE meant not even. That didn't solve the issue. Even with rinsing all my dishes off beforehand my dishes will come out with a film on them. It doesn't seem to tolerate the dishwasher detergent well and the spinning arms are always caked with residue, which I believe is backing up the system. It's been a nightmare! Do not purchase this machine!

Doesn't Clean Dishes
on November 20, 2017

The dishwasher does not clean dishes. I have to have it on power wash and extra rinse to get clean. The soap dispenser gets stuck. I was told the reason it didn't wash was that we were filling the soap cup too full but even with just a little, it doesn't clean the dishes.

Extremely disappointed with this product.....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have owned this unit for approximately 2 1/2 years. It does a very poor job of cleaning dishes, even though it takes almost 3 hours for a wash cycle. Because there is no heating element in this unit, it requires a rinse agent to keep the dishes from spotting. It consumes a tremendous amount of rinse agent! You have to fill the rinse agent reservoir about every three loads. The plastic coating on the wash racks has delaminated in several places, and the wire material the racks are made of are now rusting. In addition, the stainless steel panel in front of the dishwasher has developed discoloration streaks running from top to bottom. This problem developed in under a year, so LG replaced the original panel with a new one, and it has now developed the SAME streaks as the original panel - no amount of polishing or cleaning will remove them.
The only positive thing that I can say about this unit is that it is quiet.
We paid a premium, top of the line price for this unit, and we did not receive a top of the line product, This unit is overpriced, and doesn't hold up very well nor does it do a very good job.
Pros: Style/Design

Has a child lock that allows all the features to not be pushed except the off button... so yes my toddler turns it off all the time and now have to time when I can wash the dishes on when he is sleeping.

The Child Lock feature helps prevent your settings from being changed during a cycle. We greatly appreciate the feedback and we are sorry the dishwasher did not meet your expectations. ^CP
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had the dishwasher for 7 years. The 10 year warranty came in handy and was perfectly honored for the motor.
