I bought my mixer 6 years ago with a view to have it forever.
I have had it serviced once a couple of years ago because the motor ran hot and cold similar to a car chugging. This was especially of concern when beating egg whites. I now find it is occurring again and needs a further service.
This is disappointing as I mentioned I bought it thinking it would be a superior mixer.
If the mixture is wet I find it spills out of the bowl despite having a cover.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I finally took the plunge and updated the hand-held Breville beater I had worked with for the past 40 years! I am so happy with my choice of the Kitchenaid artisan as my replacement and sooooooo much more. I have baked so many things since I bought it, I just love it. I do wish it had come with an instruction booklet though, as in which attachment to use for what job... Still, I am working it out and having fun at the same time.

I really love my new kitchen aid, however, have a small issue with the attachments that are coated white. Ive been super careful and only used a rubber spatula when using the mixer and noticed as i used the spatula to scrape the mixture into the bowl.. (normal action?) That some of the white coating has peeled away. I wonder why Kitchenaid felt that they should coat the attachments? Ive only used the attachment twice and will see how it goes if more coating comws off i will contact Kitchenaid.
Overall i love that i dont have to stand and hold a mixer in my hands, especially for beating egg whites etc.
