I've been wanting an Otter Box for a long time and was anxious to custom make mine online when I got my new phone. It was fun choosing the colors, though they weren't accurate to what was on my computer screen.
I've had my Otter Box for about 3 weeks and already it is showing significant wear around the edges. It's almost as if a layer of it is shedding. Very weird. I'm going to try to return it because this is not suppose to happen, especially so quickly.

Our apologies that the colors of your OtterBox didn’t arrive quite as expected – we try to get as accurate a representation up on the web as we can, but sometimes things get lost in translation, so to speak. As to the trouble that you’re having with your silicone slip cover, you are absolutely correct that this should not be happening. Go ahead and give our friendly Otters a call at 1-855-688-7269, and we’ll be more than happy to get you set up with a warranty replacement on that!

On my third case in less than 2 years for this phone. My phone is still doing great, so it would be a little disingenuous to say the case is terrible. However, for the price, it would be cool if I didn't have to replace it every 8 to 10 months. I would say compared to most people, I am a light abuser. Other friends of mine that have owned this case have had similar durability issues.
What has held up really well is the screen protector. Also, the nice thing about the shell material is that it doesn't want to grab all of your stuff out of your pocket.
So - I wouldn't glowingly recommend it or strongly dissuade someone from purchasing one.

We think your header sums it up perfectly, though we'd prefer an exclamation point in place of that question mark! It's not that we want the OtterBox to crack under the pressure of protection, but we sure do love that if they're gonna go down, they're going down swinging and protecting!
Fortunately, we've got a great warranty, and we'll be more than happy to replace any parts that have sacrificed themselves for the cause, as you say. Just give our knockout Otters a call at 1-855-688-7269, and we'll whip things back into fighting shape in no time!

The Otterbox is great, seems nice and sturdy, not too much of a burden (still easy to text, switch the volume on/off, lock it, charge it, etc.) But they use Sure Post which is the most horrible shipping method. Took over 3 weeks to get my product.
Companies need to stop using Sure Post!

I gained familiarity with OtterBox over five years ago when I purchase a protective case for a Blackberry Curve. I recently upgraded to an iPhone, and I did not even bother assessing solutions from other brands. A short conversation with customer care was all I needed to get dialed into the style of case that would best suit my needs—your staff is fantastic!
The hard plastic and slip cover fit snugly, which is great when on the phone but present a mild challenge when they're installed or removed. I also wish there was greater variety in the color options. Otherwise, I couldn't be happier. The style compliments my personality, the adhesive screen protector was easy to position/apply, and the two-day shipping was a nice bonus.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Color nothing like the picture

I purchased the Bahama Blue shell with Seashell Pink slip cover. The pink slip cover is great, it looks and feels exactly like how it should. But I am sorely disappointed with the Bahama Blue shell, because it looks nothing like the picture advertising it. In the picture, it's a beautiful sky blue color. The real shell I got is like a light mint green, and looks nothing like how it was advertised to me. I ordered these two colors together specifically because I liked the way they looked together in the photo, but in real life, because the shell color is so off, it looks really bad. I'm annoyed that I spent so much money on this only to be disappointed by the aesthetic. I'm seriously doubting purchasing a case for my new iPhone in the future from OtterBox again.

Foolproof

I am so glad that I got this case when I got my phone. I am prone for dropping my phone but, this case is my back up. For instance, the other day I accidentally dropped my phone from waist high, face down and my phone didn't shatter. The only the that I don't like about this case is that the outer shell chips very easy. For example if you drop on a really tiny pebble it will chip.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very Good Case

The only problem that I, and also my mom and sister, had with this case was that the bottom (around the charging port and aux port) broke every time. My mother has gotten two different commuter cases and has happened on both. My sister just decided to do a completely different brand instead. That bottom part isn't a big problem at all though; the case still protected my phone from everything except liquid, of course! Just a slight annoyance to have the same part break.
I'm actually going to try out the Symmetry Clear case and see if that is better for me! They were nice enough to make that part of my warranty since the case is broken (just won't be able to switch back for free). I'm very pleased that they allowed me to try out a different case to see if it was better for me!
But like I said, still a very good case. Never had any problems with my phone from physical damage and either has my mother or sister when using it.
I'm actually going to try out the Symmetry Clear case and see if that is better for me! Phone is invincible

I've been using the Commuter for about a half decade now and I'll never go with anything else. The Otterbox Symmetry looks a bit better and the Defender is a bit more sturdy, but no phone case on the market provides the combination of style and protection like the Commuter does. I drop my phone a lot and have never once panicked over whether it was okay or not. Couldn't imagine using a phone without it.
When I take my phone case off, my 3 year old phone looks like it's in brand new condition.
I would recommend this to a friend!
