Incompatible with 30-pin to lightning adapters

Purchased this case and had to return it as it was incompatible with my 30 pin to lightning adapters. You have to take the hard case off the phone in order for it to work which I found unacceptable. Ended up returning it.
Pros: High quality, Durable
Cons: incompatible

The plastic piece along the bottom near the charging port broke after being dropped once, the rubber piece directly under that ripped not long after. The rubber pieces that cover the headphone jack and charging port have been bent to the point where they stick out almost constantly, it takes effort to make them stay in place and once they are it is difficult to open them again.
Over all not satisfied with this case at all and will not be purchasing another.

Not as good as they used to be.

My iPhone 3GS lived in an Otterbox Commuter for more than three years. In that time, the silicone plug covering the audio jack eventually tore off (after at least two years), but I used it all the time, so no complaint there.
The fit and finish of that case was perfect. The outer shell matched the lines of the silicone sleeve perfectly and the end result looked like it had been hand-fitted around the phone.
Sadly, this is not the case with my new iPhone 5S. I'm satisfied that this new Commuter case is just as rugged and will protect my phone just as well as the old one, but there are problems with the fit and finish being caused, I believe, by the silicone sleeve, which appears to be perhaps 0.05mm too long across the bottom. As a result, the bottom corners bulge out, which, in turn, forces the side panels of the outer shell away from the phone and leaves a bit of a gap. It's not a big deal as a matter of function, but less than what I expected from OtterBox as a repeat user of their products.
Pros: Durable
Cons: Low quality

Sloppy is an understatement

I had the Commuter series cases for my 3G and my iPhone 4, and they were nothing short of excellent. On the other hand, the Commuter case for the iPhone 5 not well built at all. The silicone mold fits, but the edges have scraggly lines like a toddler tried cutting them out. The lock button is EXTREMELY difficult to press down compared to the other models. I was hoping since the iPhone 5 is very slim that the case would be as well, but it isn't. The case is very bulky. I don't want to be viewed as a hater because I love Otterbox products, but this product is subpar. I will be returning this case tomorrow morning.

Cons: Low quality, sloppy

Great iPhone Case

Very happy with my new custom Defender for iPhone 5. Defender does its job well and getting to pick my case colors was great. Bought this as a result of my positive
experience with Defender for old iPhone 4.

Love it in Bike-Safety HiVis (Punked)

One of my kids rocks a Commuter 4s and the other a Defender 4s so i already had some experience with OtterBox.
The iPhone 5 is comparatively sturdy, so i am betting the Commuter is all i need in the event of a bike crash. Plus the slight extra size butches it a bit over wimpy competitors. Love the Punked color which might help keep me from leaving it on a cafe table.

IPhone 5 Commuter Case

Purchased black Otter Commuter Case for IPhone 5 recently. It seems to be terrific. No negative experiences whatsoever. Admittedly, I did use box cutter and cut off the rubber flap covering the charge port on the IPhone 5, but this is not negative to do it. Would strongly recommend the particular case I bought!

Great Case

I've had this case on my iPhone 5 since I got the phone and have had zero issues with it. In fact, I sort of forgot it was even on the phone until today, when my phone fell out of my pocket, bounced off the floor of a tank I was working in and fell out of the drain... onto a concrete floor 60' below me, ending up in a pool of water and unrefined oil. After all this the phone is completely fine, the only damage was a crack to the plastic on the back of the case. Definitely worth the money, it paid for itself a few times over.
