Not well designed

I used the Otterbox Commuter case for my iPhone 4, and loved it. It was sleek yet protective, and didn't add too much bulk to the phone.
Because I was so happy with my previous case, I ordered another Otterbox Commuter case for my iPhone 5. Big mistake.
Unfortunately the Commuter case for the iPhone 5 is kind of awful. It's so big and bulky that the newly designed thin iPhone 5 feels like an awkward brick. It actually makes the phone as thick as the iPhone 4 was in the same case, almost doubling its thickness. Not only that, but the camera slot seems to be designed poorly, as a small portion of the grey back center panel (I have a black phone) is visible through the camera hole, which looks a little awkward. It's only about 2 or 3 mm or silvery/grey visible through the camera hole, but it's just enough to look like a flaw rather than a design choice.
This case is protective as all Otterbox cases are, so if you're not worried about how your phone looks this case would probably still work for you.
With a phone as beautiful as the iPhone 5, though, aesthetics really do matter, and this case takes away from the phone's sleek design and beauty.
Pros: High quality, Durable
Cons: bulky

Poor attention to detail

While I loved my Commuter TL case for my iPhone 3GS, this Commuter Case appears to have little attention to detail with sloppy injection molding and poor alignment of edges between the silicone and the hard plastic. While Otter Box makes durable products that provide good protection for electronics, they need to also make them look well made and focus a little more attention to detail.

Cons: Low quality, sloppy and unattractie

Great look but...

I loved my Commuter Case for my Iphone 4 so it came as no surprise to anyone that I immediately ordered a Commuter Case for my Iphone 5. It looks great, but to my dismay it does not fit the phone correctly. The bottom lightening pin and headphone jack are not covered at all because they do not properly lock in place. It is annoying and they hang open all the time. I loved the case for the Iphone 4, but I will be searching for another case with my Iphone 5.

Cons: Low quality, does not fit properly

Done with Otterbox

I've had this case for a little less than two months. The plastic feels like extremely cheap plastic, but so far it has withstood a couple of drops and the bending necessary to get it on [which is more than other otterboxes I've had have survived].
The rubber inner casing, however, has faded drastically. This doesn't affect the protection, but I doubt I'm alone in wanting a case that retains its colour. I have black/black, so while the hard plastic is still dark, the rubber is slowly whitening. It further cheapens the appearance of this case. The case is never in the sun, and no soaps have been used on it.
The microphone is partially covered by the case.
The plastic is so slick that the case slides across any surface I put it on. Also, the back of the case curves out on each corner and end, which sometimes causes the phone to sit unevenly on a surface.
After having Otterbox cases that have cracked without ever being dropped, and stretched out without being pulled, getting this case that has so many design flaws was a disappointment. I doubt I will buy from Otterbox again, despite their great customer service.
Pros: it hasn't broken yet.
Cons: Low quality

Pink/White commuter case iphon5

The white silicone part of this case gets dirty and dingy very quickly. I have tried everything to make it white again to no avail. I'm very disappointed. I spent a lot of money on this case. So disappointed.

Second OtterBox Case - love them!

When I upgraded to an iPhone 5 - I immediately got a case - wouldn't have a phone without an OtterBox.
The iPhone 5 case felt a little different then my iPhone 4s case. But not really in a bad way.
These are the first cases that I've ever bought for ANY phone and actually use. I normally don't like cases because they change the feel and size of the phone. But this case feels great in your hand.
Some of the reviews talk about the silicon stretching out- I found that to be true on my first case - partly because I kept taking it off to show it off. Once I got my second case, I left it on and had no issues!
OtterBox in general has excellent customer service - if you are worried about spending money on a case - don't fear. They replace any broken cases - easy peasy - no fuss. Just fill out an online form, submit pictures and then your replacement case is on its way. You don't have to send in the broken case which is great!
Pros: Durable, High quality, easy to put on

I bought the commuter first for my iPhone 4. It is still in excellent shape to this day! I then upgraded to an iPhone 5 and immediately purchased a commuter for this one. It has delivered time and time again. Fits well and is easy to remove and install the phone. Well designed and not too bulky. I have since purchased one for my daughter's 4s (she cracked her screen because she refused a case) and she loves it. Well done Otterbox! I wouldn't even entertain any other brand!

I went to San Francisco this weekend and I was shell hunting at the beach. I noticed a bigger wave coming in and I started to run away from the water when my phone fell out and landed in the surf. My girlfriend ran for the phone and pulled it up out of the water. I am so glad I had the Otter box case. My phone was fine. There was only a few drops of water on the inside of the case. The Otter Box totally saved my phone from doom!
