This case is great! It's protected many drops for my iphone 5s and its pretty slim too. It's easy to put on and easy to take off. I only have one issue with it where the rubber gets scratched pretty easily but its only minor. Overall get this case! By the way, customer service is absolutely amazing! They will send you another case if its defected!
I recently upgraded to an iPhone 5 and needed a new case. Since I loved my OtterBox that I had on my iPhone 4, there was no doubt I'd be getting an updated Commuter case. I was so excited when I realized I could do custom inner/outer colors now! I immediately knew I wanted teal for the rubber inner piece, and I have to say it looks pretty nice inside the white plastic outer piece I selected. I do have to say that the upper left corner of this inner piece doesn't snugly fit to the phone, and it does show dirt/scuffs over time. However, the dirt/scuffs easily clean off and the protection isn't necessarily hindered.
I love how it's an added protection. I don't know how many times I've dropped my phone, and a plastic case would NOT have protected it. I love my otterbox, and although it isn't necessarily that colorful, I will never go with anything different.
Have used ONLY OtterBox cases since my first iPhone (now on 5th one). Tried a couple of others & prefer OtterBox. If I had a dollar for everytime I've dropped my phone I'd be rich.
The case offers medium-duty protection and adds a nice wight and feel to the phone without being too cumbersome. The phone slid off the roof of a car to the street; the pastic shell was damaged but the phone was fine. Otterbox replaced the shell @ no cost. There are a few negatives that would keep me from purchasing this model again. The silicone covering the power button makes it very difficult to depress the button or hold it down. It almost takes two hands to turn the phone on as you have to place your tendons into overdrive to press the button with 1 hand. It's an awkward motion. The silicone covering the lightning charge port is very thick and doesn't stay open as you put the charge cable in. Either changing the flap resistance or eliminating it altogether would be a better design. Ditto the headphone port, which, because of the shape of the outer plastic shell, does not allow all headphone jacks to sit fully in the port. My headphones would not go all the way in unless I took the plastic shell off. That is a huge flaw. Last issue I have is with the silicone around the mute button. The silicone is thick and the opening is small making it hard to get a finger in to flick the mute. You have to angle your fingertip in straight to touch the button; Again its sort of an awkward motion. Overall I love the protection the case gives but thick silicone combined with some design flaws makes the phone harder to use.
Pros: Durable
Cons: silicone makes mute/power buttons hard to activate, flaps over headphone and charge ports cumbersome, cutout for headphone jack not large enough
