I loved my otterbox the first year I had it! It was great for protecting my phone and as many times as I dropped my phone, my phone never had any damage. However, eventually this shell cracked in a few places. I got it replaced and was disappointed that my replacement cracked all along the top just the second day I used it.
Cons: Not durable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have this case for my work phone which is an iPhone 4S and love it, so when I was upgrading my personal phone to the 5S I knew what case I would be ordering.
The case works great, fits well, protects everything needed. Comes with a screen protector which does not obstruct the view of the screen in any way.
The only thing I notice on this case vs the 4S case is that the hold button is much harder to push with this one. It is a big annoying but not a big deal. Something I probably wouldn't have thought anything of if I didn't already have the 4S. Also could be something that will get better with time, possibly the 4S case is just worn in properly and the new case will be there in a few months, I have had it for about 1 month now.
Overall a great case, slim, protective, and doesn't make your phone like carrying a brick around in your pocket.
Also want to note that I was ALWAYS against phone cases. Too bulky, and always used the thought that my phone was a phone, and I was going to use it as such. Had I not been forced to case my work phone, I'd still be under that thought. Realistically the case doesn't add much bulk and gives me the piece of mind that when I drop it, it will survive the fall.

I have the Otter Box Commuter Series in Aqua Blue. It does what it's supposed to do and that's all that matters. Protects my I Phone 5 in style with no additional bulk or unneeded features. I damaged my first Commuter case by dropping it, and customer replaced very promptly. Happy with my purchase.

I've not had any issues with the case... other then user error when I mishandled the case putting the phone in it. They replaced case with no questions. I sign of a company standing behind their product.

Commuter plastics breaks but Otterbox backs it up

This outer plastic shell breaks. So I would not recommend this case. However Otterbox has replaced it twice for me and for my wife and mother. So as a company they will take care of you. I will try a different OB case next time

Love my Otterbox case and would not have anything else. My case has broken (but not my phone!!!!) twice and Otterbox has honored the warranty with no questions asked.

I like the colour choices available but the outer case is less strong and had to be replaced two months after buying. The phone was well protected however by the liner.
