Unacceptable Focusing!
on November 23, 2013

I like several things about this camera, but its tendency to focus in front and off central objects has been out of focus too many time (soft). I was shooting a single central focus point with static objects in excellent conditions and the autofocus adjustments in camera could not correctly focus from time to time. I had expected the central autofocus point to be extremely accurate (off central was expected for certain situations), however this is the worst focusing Canon camera, I have ever own. This is to includes conventional film EOS Cameras. I have never had to adjust the autofocusing ring when shooting on any of my previous Canon bodies. They all worked perfect with various bodies, but not this one. This camera does not focus with the quality I expected from Canon’s EOS Cameras. Shooting sports photography, it was slower at focusing than previously experienced, too. However, this camera does turns out incredible images (as long as it is an optimal condition), but it’s my experience focusing is an issue. Further, I must admit to my fellow photographers... first chance, I am upgrading to the 5D Mark III because full frame is necessary for me and the focusing is much better.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, light weight, excellent video
Cons: no pc sync terminal, inconsistent focusing
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Just... okay

In my 2+ years with the 6D, I have grown more and more weary of it's Rebel SL1/T5 type focusing system. If you're going to include only one focus point that is worth anything, you need to make it a HUGE megapixel camera so that you can maintain IQ when cropping. Because, with only one real focus point on an expensive camera like this, you are going to do a LOT of cropping, or.... Have really strangely framed images.
The sensor is nice, when you can overcome the 1990's style auto-focus system.
Wifi? Can't use. I have a windows phone. GPS? don't need. Take out these non photographic features and make the system itself more robust. Better AF PLEASE.
Also, the rubber grips are coming loose. For the amount I paid on this, that shouldn't be happening. (Also happening on my 70D).
Bottom line... Takes nice images, I like the sensor (though I wish for better DR). But, Canon does NOT make it easy to get nice moderate action images. It's slow, clunky, and not up to other manufacturers standards. Most people would be better off buying from that other company or even the other one that no one thinks about. Or, over pay for the tired camera that is tiered above this one.

My fav Dslr to date

This is my firtst full frame and Im amazed how the photos I take with high iso look. Pictures are really sharp and clean with iso's as high as 6400. The 6d is very light about the same size as my 7d. There are some differences between the two camera's. The 7d's view finder and lcd screen are larger which I love. The only feature I was disappointed with was the customs settings, theres only two on the 6d and I wasn't able to set the shutter and aperture in the custom settings. The best features on the 6d are the Wifi and gps are amazing I'm able to download pictures onto my mac pro and iPhone with the press of a button using a app.
Pros: quiet, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love this camera!

Take mainly outdoor landscapes. Having the built in GPS is a plus. Wish the LCD rotated. Great pictures. Got the grip/battery pack to deal the with GPS drain on batteries - makes camera easier to use. Wish the camera was a little faster and had the ability to download the HDR individual images like the 5D. Very rugged.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Camera, Bad Support
on November 7, 2014

The camera itself is great but support is lacking. OS X Yosemite has been out for a few weeks now and still no software support is available, preventing you from easily getting pictures from the camera to the computer. I'd expect more from Canon.

Hello Canon,
I wish you had put Articulating screen on this camera, Please make it possible on 6D Mark ii. Also there is nothing wrong with a pop up flash on a 6D. I also wish you improve the focus points atleast equal to 60D. And its a full frame camera, Please put dual card slots.
If you want to differentiate 6D from 5Ds, Please put Less focus points or Do Not put weather seals etc...
Or at least accommodate Articulating screen + wifi and a pop up flash in 5D Mark iv, I will immediately upgrade to it.
Please make it happen...
I also have 70D which is charm to use with the articulate Touch screen. The possibilities are unlimited with the cam's Wifi abilities. Its a total package, The only thing I wish it had was a full frame sensor and a dual card slot.
Canon please think about it. I have used a Canon AE1 for almost a decade before going digital with Eos Rebel. So for almost 25 years I have been using Dslrs of Canon. Even my background is BFA Photography. Please someone up in Canon company think about what we desire, We are sure you are great, but just need little addons to what you already offer.
Regards,
Ajay Tangudu
