After a long wait I recently made the move from my faithful
40d to full frame and I'm not looking back. The image quality
is better than I had expected and I know from my first results that I am totally satisfied.

Almost Perfect

This camera introduces a new price point for Canon in the Prosumer market. It also is the first camera of its kind in this market to have built-in WiFi, GPS and in camera HDR. These are great features and the main reason that I purchased this camera (I might have gone with a APS-C model like the 7D if it had these features.)
___However the camera is not perfect and it is obvious to me that it is version 1 of these new features.
___The biggest issue is that if you enable GPS, it remains on draining the battery even when you turn the camera off. Hopefully Canon will add a "disable GPS when camera is off" to Custom Functions 3. This would also disable route logging which I think is a gimmick anyway. I believe this is the reason that the camera is getting such low marks on battery life.
___The in-camera HDR is great but ONLY works with JPG images. I normally shoot only raw which forces me to change my setting just to use the feature. While I'd really like Raw HDR, even just taking the HDR picture as a JPG at the same quality level as set for Raw would be an improvement.
___Finally, Wifi is great! The computer version is complete (it has been available wired for several years.) It would be nice if the phone/tablet versions have the same functionality.
___Overall these shortcomings aren't a big deal and hopefully they will be addressed by Canon in the near with a firmware update.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Lightweight/Portable, wifi & gps
Cons: Short battery life

Best I've ever owned

I wanted a full frame camera for a host of reasons. As a professional photographer I do beach photography of families, pets and children. BUT, my true love is wildlife and BIFs. Panning birds is hard work, but I find I get more usable shots then ever before with this lightweight camera (paired with Canon's 400mm Prime lens). Buy it. Save some money. Your shots will be of professional level.

I have used Canon cameras all my life and I still have the original Digital Rebel which my wife uses occasionally because she likes the color of it. I currently have (4) 6Ds. I always carry and USE (3) of them at events as I travel around the world. It's a little smaller footprint than the 5D which allows me to get 3 of them in my bag. I purchased the 6D mainly because of the price point of a full frame camera and the 5D mkII was no longer available. I was skeptical at first. Now... It's mostly all I use and I do have a 1DX, which tends to sit often because the shutter is just too loud for my line of work. The bonus of the 6D which was not a big deal to me at the time of purchase is the built in wifi. My organization is big on social media, and these cameras allow me to shoot, download and post web size images in minutes. It will only download web-size images, but that is all I need for social media. The ability to use and iPad as a remote interface for the camera is also a bonus. I am able to set up the camera on a tripod and control it from another device. The wifi also gives me the ability to hand an art director an iPad/iphone or android device and go take pictures while he watches and gives me art direction from his chair. Only 1 of the 4 have been returned to Canon for a shutter button replacement after a year and a half of use with about 190,000 clicks.
The wifi is reliable once you figure out the short cut to make it connect quickly every time you want to use it. I connect primarily to my Andriod device but it works well with iPhone / iPad and other tablets
I would strongly recommend the 6D to anyone who needs a quiet versatile camera, with wifi and remote ability that produces great images.

Best purchase ever

I was a little nervous about purchasing this camera because of the autofocus system. I'm currently shooting with a 1d series camera but my wife will not pack it because of its weight, so I purchased this body for so there were no more point and shoot pics taken.
All I can honestly say is wow. The low light shooting indoors or out side is amazing. The autofocus system is second to none. It is hard to take a poor picture with this body. I have never been this impressed with any body I have purchased including my 1dx.
Shooting in the same conditions as the 1dx and same Iso, same lens same tripod. The files look identical and maybe a little sharper because of the small resolution bump.
This camera is a true winner!!!
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Very Capable Camera, best in class for price.

I purchased this camera primarily for hiking in the back-country wilderness. I wanted something light, weather sealed, and full framed for landscapes. Fast action shots are not an issue for me so the complaints about the AF system were not a concern. For the few times that I have had to use the AF system, it performed exceptionally well though.
The menu system, combined with the custom shooting modes make this camera a joy to use! All the settings you need can be setup within one custom menu and can be adjusted quickly if necessary. Customizing this camera for your particular style of shooting is a good as it gets.
The built in GPS is a really nice feature, and works very well. Would be hard for me to own another camera without GPS now.
Overall, this is simply a great camera!

Canon 6D is a wonderful camera

I'm upgrading from our Canon XSi 450D camera which i still love that we bought in 2007. However, after using this Canon 6D I don't see a need to keep using the old one. Canon 6D has 11 focus points. My old Canon XSi only had 9 so I get two more. This canon 6D locks in even at very low light. While my Canon XSi 450D had a pop up flash, I hardly used it as it made people look worse. Natural light for me was better. The Canon 6D i first tested it at night with only a tiny light in the livingroom, and only a small 40watt bulb in the kitchen. I really could not see much of anything in the liviing room. I set my ISO to automatic and made the max to only go to 3200, using the f4 24-100 kit lens, i just took the picture. Image came really bright and even captured the brown color of my lazyboy chair that i could hardly see in the view finder. picture was easy to fix in software. But the image in the camera was almost normal lighting. I don't think for me we need to spend money on an external flash ever. I'm Amazed. The camera weighs several ounces more then our Canon XSi 450D My wife said she just wanted to now use the old Canon 450D XSi, but I instead bought a second Canon 6D with her own 24-105 kit lens too. I also went ahead and bought the Canon 70-200 4fL IS. It is only about 2 inches longer then my Canon 100 f2.8L Macro lens I bought 4 months ago, and maybe a few ounces more. No big deal. Been saving for retirement, but I wanted something we both will enjoy using together for years to come. Thank you so much Canon! Good job! I'm looking forward to buying one more lens the 16-35 2.8 L sure would be nice if it was a new IS version. But maybe that wide angle does not need it. I love my IS lenses. I'm getting older and some days i have a slight left hand shaking. Not sure if that's a prelude to getting older or what? But all my IS lenses have given me better keepers. So I'm reluctant to buying anything that is not an IS lens.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, just amazing in low light. flash really not needed
