Amazing phone, scary name

When I heard LG was coming out with a state-side quad-core phone, I was excited. When I found out it was named after their Optimus line, I got worried.
The earlier Optimus phone's were entry-level phones that were decent for tween's, and people on a budget, but were terrible for people who needed a consistently functioning smart-phone. Most iteration’s of the Optimus lacked any type of quality.
Enter the Optimus G. The design of the phone is super sleek: clean lines, excellent finish, it looks like one solid piece of machinery. None on it is distracting, but yet it's entirely eye-catching. It isn’t heavy, but it isn’t light either. It feels solid in the hand. And with a 4.7 inch screen, it’s big; but not too big. The back feels like glass, and the crystal dot design on the back adds a unique (yet classy# touch. Nothing about this phone feels cheap or plastic.
The phone is super fast, probably the fastest phone out right now. I tested it against the Galaxy Note 2 #another quad-core phone# and it was a tick faster. Everything is seamless and snappy. Everything on the phone is customizable #seriously, practically every detail is changeable#. The stock interface isn’t the most attractive, but after you tinker with it, you’ll easily be able to make it look how you want. You can even choose to make your own icons for every application, by using downloaded pictures from your gallery or by taking a picture with the camera. You don’t even have to have icons, as you can pinch the home screen and it will remove everything on the screen but the wallpaper #pressing “home” will bring it all back#. The Dolby Mobile sound system paired with a nice set of headphones makes for a great listening experience. The 13MP camera takes huge photos, which is great for photo editing. The camera quality itself isn’t quite as good as some of the top of the line phone cameras #iPhone and Galaxy line#, but is none-the-less sharp and detailed. The camera app itself comes with a large variety of add-ons, including “glamor-shot” and a voice activated shutter, which is great. The QuickMemo feature may seem like a gimmick at first, but I find myself using it more and more as time progresses; some things just can’t be explained through text. It’s nice to have a figurative “white board” with you wherever you go.
The only gripe I have with the phone is the battery life isn’t as great as some of it’s competitors, but a full charge will still last me an entire work-day. The battery isn’t removable, and it’s all internal memory, which can turn some people off. But it wasn’t a deal breaker for me, with 32GB on-board and cloud storage.
All-in-all, this is probably one of the top phones I’ve ever used in any era, because of it’s functionality and customizability #and I work for a cellphone company, so I’ve played with many over the years). Don’t let the “Optimus” tag scare you away from this beast.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

LG OptiMUST-HAVE G.

Great phone, I mean amazing. Really, I wouldn't be writing a review on the phone if it weren't for one problem. LG has just released an update for the phone increasing battery life (which is already VERY HIGH) and other things. Unfortunately, they did not fix the keyboard issue. As most people use the standard LG Keyboard, I have moved onto the Smart Keyboard addition (can buy in Play Store). Sadly, when using the Smart Keyboard Add-On, the screen will quickly flash black while in use. So far, I have only seen it happen to me, and when I am texting. I turned to writing a review in hopes that they will acknowledge this bug and fix it. Other than this VERY small issue, I love this phone. I don't care about stats, this FEELS faster than any other phone, even with the ECO setting to save battery life. (This setting limits the quad core processor). It is very customization with the "packs" you can download, and is just an all around great phone. The display, amazing, the camera, 13MP - enough said.
I could go on and on forever about this phone, but the main reason for this review is again, in hopes that LG may see into the Smart Keyboard comparability and see if it is in fact a glitch, or just a broken phone on my part. If you're thinking about getting this over an iPhone, do it. If you're thinking about this over a Galaxy SIII, meh. All around, an amazing phone.
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, bug, glitch, tweak, lg, update, bugs, glitches

Loved it for the 1 1/2 weeks it lasted
on February 24, 2013

I loved the phone from the start, it was fast and the performance impressive.
Unfortunately, it slipped off my lap, fell about 1 1/2' and is now completely useless since the front display is completely cracked. I had it less than two weeks and it was the first time it fell!
I even cut myself on an edge of glass coming out. Very disappointed. There are no signs of impact, not even scratches or anything on the frame or back on the phone, so it seems a lot like there must have been an issue with the glass display. Especially, after reading so many other reviews having the same issue.
I'm going to try to get a replacement through the warranty since again, I feel like a phone should be able to handle a small drop like this.
Pros: Performance, easy to use

EXTREMELY FRAGILE PHONE, BEWARE!
on April 4, 2014

I have had this phone for a year now and though I love all the internal features of this phone, I have to warn you that it is an extremely fragile phone. The first time my screen broke it was my fault for not having a case on it, so I ordered a new one online, had it replaced, and immediately put a case on my phone. I thought that would be the end of my troubles. NOPE, not even 24hrs lafter replacing my screen my phone took a 5 inch fall from my hand to my hardwood floor and the top right corner of the screen cracked about an inch and a half. Not even half as bad as the first fall so I thought it would be okay but my phone is completely useless. Now I'm stuck without a phone because I don't have the funds to replace the screen again, let alone get a new phone. Wish this phone wasn't so fragile but if I were you I would think twice about buying this phone! Be prepared to spend lots of money on repairs and replacements.

Great phone

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this phone 2.5 years ago and it served it's purpose well. The battery life was great at first, however, within the past few months it has started acting up; when the phone would hit 30% battery life, a red X would appear at the top as if there was no service and if not put on the charger right away, the phone would die. If the phone died and you plugged it in afterwards, the battery life would shoot back up to 50%. Also, the camera function became a little screwy as well; after taking a picture it would take a longer than usual to show you the picture you had just taken. Come to find out, the camera would take it's own pictures and you would have to go in and delete them all in hopes it wouldn't take any more in the mean time. All in all, this phone has served me well and I would recommend it, however, I'm sure since this is an older phone, you could probably find a better one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The only bad thing is the fused lcd screen and nonremoveable back. Otherwise it's amazing and my phone still works today.

Really fell in love with this phone, but after 3 weeks, it inexplicably refused to charge and the LG logo keeps flashing on/off with a black screen every 4 seconds when I attempt to charge it. This seems to be a recurring issue with some of these LG phones. I just happened to have gotten one of the defective ones, sad to say. My husband's LG Optimus G is working great though! He loves his. I sadly cannot use mine any longer as I do not know what I can do to fix this issue. This review is based on MY experience with this phone. Will try to see if someone from Warranty Dept. can help me :(
