IT'S A TOASTER! HOW COULD YOU SCREW UP THE DESIGN OF A TOASTER?
Bought this toaster 2 days ago. It's going back today. The toasting (burning) was uneven. On setting 3 1/2 the lower 2 thirds of the bread was black, the upper third saw still too dark. Why does the dial goes up to 7 If the bread is burned on 3 1/2? I imagine if I put it on 7 the bread would have been completely incinerated.
The bread slots are wide but they are not ling enough for any bread other than square Wonder Bread. The Oroweat (or store brand equivalent) whole grain bread I buy is too long to fit in the slots by about a 1/2"
Also, I agree with the reviewer that complained about the cord. It comes from the front of the unit thus the cord is essentially shortened by 8" because it needs to be fed back under the unit.
The crumb tray is also totally useless. It is less than 1/4" deep.
The box says "Toast just the way you like it - Perfect every time"
NOT EVEN CLOSE!
I'm probably being to rough. They must still be working out the kinks in these new fangled things. I mean the toaster has only been around since 1919.

What's not so great: Designed by idiots

I have actually never reviewed a product before but felt, in good conscience, I had to review this one to warn others who might purchase this toaster, as I did, because of all the great reviews. (Go on Amazon and check out all the one star reviews there -- wish I had) We have had this toaster for about one year. It has been a headache and we are shopping for another toaster. Worked great at first but before long issues began to crop up. Here are some of the issues we have had with it:
1. Bread slices and english muffins will fall down into the bottom of the toaster (no, we are not toasting it on the bagel setting) and require quite a bit of effort to get out (we actually have had to work at it with a knife to cut it apart through the slots and then try to shake it out).
2. From almost the start, one side would stay stuck at the bottom and we had to manually lift it back up. Now it is permanently stuck on the bottom.
3. One side will not work and when we use the other side to toast, it now burns everything.
I probably should have returned this when issues started appearing, but I was too optimistic that the issues would disappear (I mean, how could this be when this appliance has all these 5 star reviews??) Maybe we just got a lemon, but given the reviews on amazon... I don't think so. Buyer beware....

The toaster is all plastic. The cord is engineered in the wrong place and is much too short.
What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: All plastic and the cord too short and in the wrong place.......
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Purchased at my local Best Buy store...it was the only brand of toaster they carried. Didn't feel like searching around in a lot of stores for other brands because it is not that costly and I did not feel like wasting my time and gas. I have had Oster products in the past and they did their job...I thought, "What the heck?"
Well, it is a nice looking item...BUT... at very low setting, one side of the toast was light....and the sides toward the center were scorched. I thought, perhaps, it was me...so I went through it again and same thing. After a few tries, I called Oster. Very nice people. They sent me a new toaster....and guess what....it does the same thing. Have not called them again....has to be a design flaw. Now I have 2 new toasters...neither of which function properly.....so.....it is too late to return to Best Buy and I just might try contacting Oster again....but I am not sure that there is a point to that....so my $24.99 went up in smoke.....(plus sales tax).
What's great about it: Looks
What's not so great: Scorched bread on one side, untoasted on the other.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This thing doesn't work. You had to push the lever 20 times to get it to stay down. Once it was down it is a bread or waffle warmer not a toaster. Threw it away and bought a more expensive online. It's junk.

I have been looking for a small toaster for our camping trailer checking in stores and on line with different sellers but hadn't checked BestBuy. I found this Oster toaster :-) while visiting your store for a vaccuum filter. It had all the right buttons/ wide slot and small size I needed and it was on sale for a great price. I liked it so much I bought another one from your store for the house when we need something smaller than the toaster oven. So far they are both working great.
What's great about it: Great toaster for the price.
What's not so great: All plastic except the toasting parts. Not a problem tho.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is my second toaster of this model. The first one broke -- one side didn't pop-up. Well, the second toaster did the same thing and I have to turn it upside down to get toast out.
What's great about it: looks, good heating quality
What's not so great: Durability
