Fine basic dishwasher

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This model washes well. Not the quietest, and capacity seems low. Shape of silverware basket takes up a lot of space, leaving few loading options on the lower level. We find we fill up this dishwasher much faster than our previous one due to the configuration of the upper & lower shelves. Does a good job cleaning. Easy-to-use controls. No adjustability.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Wow what an amazing dishwasher

I really like my new GE dishwasher! Excellent quality and it gets my dishes really clean. I wait to run the dishwasher until it is full. Sometimes the dishes sit several days - not a problem! They come out clean and shiny.

Great Dishwasher Style!

Here are some helpful hints, when using this style of Dishwasher.
a) If your drain hose is connected to a sink disposal, please make sure the inside disposal plug has been removed, before attaching the dishwasher drain hose. This can cause the dishwasher to not drain and leave standing water inside.
b) Make sure the drain hose is strapped up higher than where it's attached to the sink disposal or pipe drain area. This will keep dirty water from this area draining back down into the dishwasher. This can cause dirty dishes.
c) Check your hot water temperature. Take a good digital thermometer, that can read liquid temps, and check the temperature at your kitchen sink. Run the Hot Water for a few minutes and check temp. You should get a reading of 120*F or higher. I have found that these style of dishwashers work better at 130*F. Adjust your water heater to 120*F min. to 130*F max.
d) Before starting your dishwasher turn on the hot water, at the kitchen sink, until the water coming out is hot. This gets rid of the cooler water in the pipes, so the dishwasher can start with the proper higher temp water.
e) Maker sure that the dishwasher was leveled correctly, when it was installed. Take a leveler from the hardware store and check front to back and side to side. An unlevel dishwasher will cause poor wash and drain performance. This can cause food particals to be left on dishes.
f) I have found that using the "Pots & Pans" or the "Heavy Wash" with the "High Temp Wash" option & "Heated Dry" option does the best job on this style of dishwasher.
g) Use a good detergent "Pod" or "Powder" like Cascade Complete or Finish with "Rinse Aid". The liquid detergents and Eco detergents do not work well in this dishwasher, and make the performance of this dishwasher look bad, in my opinion.
h) Do not overload the racks. Learn how to load properly. Remember, don't block the Tower Wash in the middle of the bottom rack. Also, don't place really tall items near the Tower Wash Area. This will interfere with the top rack spray from the Tower.
i) Use some common sense! Our Grandmothers always scrapped food off of dishes and did some minor rinsing before placing the dishes into the sink for hand washing. Automatic Dishwashers deserve the same. These dishwashers aren't magic boxes where you throw everything in and it magically disappears. A little prepping, like Grandmother did, helps improve dishwasher results. You may say that this is a waist of water, but I say better to use this method than to have dirty dishes that make people sick and spread disease and bacteria. Cleanliness is next to Godliness!

We got tired of buying dishwashers that had electronic controls that would stop working and cost as much as the dishwasher to repair. Went for this one with analog controls and am very happy with it. It isn't the roomiest, it isn't the quietest, but it cleans the dishes very well.
