Having bought new computer with Vista Home Premium, this would have answered all my problems with an old but extremely reliable HP 4P Laserjet. Tried everything and could not get it to work. Talked to a guru at Best But and was informed that it doesn't work with HP printers. Wish I'd known beforehand. Thanks to Best Buy's great return policy it was no real problem. Can not comment for other printers though, may work a charm.
What's great about it: Not Known
What's not so great: Could Have Described Limitations On Package
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Waste of money

I spent several hours, both consulting with other computer literate people and parallel connection users. Everything I tried failed, even reloaded drivers from HP but my LaserJet 4 would not listen to anything from the USB channel.
What's great about it: Nothing, would be great if it worked
What's not so great: Computer USB sees a printer, printer doesn't see the USB
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The USB cable is easy to attach. The USB cable provides dependable transfer of data from computer to printer. The cost of the cable is in keeping with its need and perfromance.

This cable cannot be used for the HP LaserJet 4L printer. If you are using Windows 7, there aren't any drivers for this printer anyway.

Wrong Cable for my early edition HP 4L

My HP LazerJet 4L is the earliest model released. It has a cable coming out of the back with a 25-pin plug at the end. It does not have a plug in the back of the printer. This adapter does not work with it because of the configuration. I'm sure that there is another adapter out there that can handle the job.
I attempted to purchase an adapter from memory and obviously, my memory failed. Best Buy was very helpful in getting the cable in a store that had it in stock. They were also kind enough to take it back and refund me my money.
What's great about it: Available at my local store
What's not so great: It was the wrong product for my need cuz I goofed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I need an adapter for an old lazer printer I had that was not not otherwise compatable with my new computer. This was perfect and does exactly what I need it to.
What's great about it: allows me to use my existing printer
What's not so great: seems to take longer to print
I would recommend this to a friend!
