i bought a dynex cable usb to serial port and it's work on window vista is good.i don't know how to other says is not work with vista. it's easy don't install to cd put usb plug in an automatically your window search for softwear.
What's great about it: it's good

What's great about it: high quality, built well, good support CD
What's not so great: Over priced for just a simple crossover cable

I returned this item, so I can't review it specifically.
I'm writing this to warn you that it's not the same as a VGA-USB connector. I'm basically computer illiterate, so I went to Best Buy for some professional help. I needed the VGA adapter, but when I saw the price, I asked the associate if they had any less expensive. He pulled this off the rack. I opened it and saw that it looked similar to the VGA connection, but because the box said PDA/Serial Adapter, I questioned him. He said, "Yep, trust me".
After driving home (30 minutes) I discovered it wasn't right, the number of pins is different. So an hour later, I arrived home with the right product.
Be careful of the associates' supposed "knowledge". I had to give it stars, so based on other Dynex products, I'll assume it's good.

Don't pay attention to the other reviews. People like me need this product for various reasons, like building a robot. This was an essential product to hook up my control arm to my beagle board. If you know what your doing this product is great to have lying around your workspace for various projects. I would recommend having more than one of these products if your a geek like me.
I rated 4/5 stars because of the price, that Best Buy can easily drop.
What's great about it: Easy to set up
What's not so great: the price

I did everything I was supposed to do and it does not work. I read some of the reviews and I let Vista find the software without the CD and it just says it's not compatible. Any help would be appreciated.
What's great about it: It would be fine for Windows XP, I had no problem in the past with it.
What's not so great: I'm assuming I am having problems with it because of Windows Vista.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I thought my problem of having a radio with a serial connection and none on my laptop was over when the sales person advised this product would work on windows 7 with out any problems! This product worked at first. After a while it started crashing my system. Then it had problems with the driver. That was the same driver which worked a month ago!
I have tried several other adapters and have not found one that would work
Do not buy this product!!!
