Excellent Blu-ray player

This is our second Sony blu-ray player and we've been very happy with both of them. The original player was moved to the bedroom and the new one is connected to our 60 in TV. One of the best things is the quicker access speeds they now have. Older machines took forever to boot up and start playing. We highly recommend Sony players especially if they have wireless internet access.

I love the player, very fast loading discs, fantastic picture with the up scaling. Only complaint is the top of the player is shaped like a pyramid so you cant put anything on top of it such as.....Apple TV, Roku device or Direct TV mini-receiver. Would purchase more of these players but this 1 feature leaves it as a stand alone product in my equipment rack. If the top is not a problem, I would highly recommend this player. Almost forgot...after first update it crashed, had to unplug it to get it to stop flashing message on the front display. After I re-plugged it in I have had no problems with the unit.

I’ve owned and still own many Sony products, but this device is by far the worst product I’ve ever bought. I bought this product because of the Sony name and reputation. The device will freeze while playing a disc, and is constantly buffering/freezing when streaming programs. I even moved it closer to my router, connected a cat 5 patch cable to see if that would help, but no it didn’t.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great disc player - HORRID video steaming

I bought 2 of these both new in an unopened box, one cut off streaming video so often I returned it right away. This one I have had several months. It does play 3D and DVD's really well with great color and outstanding up scaling. If you are only going to watch Blu-rays and DVD's, this gets a solid 5 stars.
However if you intend to watch YouTube, get something else. It will play fine for awhile, BUT will ALWAYS shut down with the message."Cannot open application. Application is too large, Application will terminate now" and then return to the home page. It will be hard to restart and rarely get back to what you were watching when it went down - frustrating and maddening.
Netflix isn't effected with this, only You Tube (which I watch mainly) is, so keep that in mind. If you don't watch You Tube, then you will love this player, it is outstanding in all other respects.

I wanted a Blu ray with 3D capability, chose this product based on reviews. Works fantastic.......excellent 3D effects, outstanding sound. Couldnt be happier with purchase.
