Brother PT-H100 Touch label maker
on November 22, 2016

I bought this Brother PT-H100 label maker and I have not been happy with it at ALL ! It works great when it is working but if I leave the batteries in them it runs the batteries down every time. I have to take the batteries out every time I am done making a label. I spend more time removing and putting the batteries in than I do making the actual labels.

Good for the classroom

This product has been great for my classroom. I have been able to label everything using different styles and fonts. The only disappointing problem I have is that is goes through batteries VERY quickly. I shut it off between use and I have changed batteries several times in two weeks. That is an expensive problem.

Not sure yet

I would like an on line tutorial. Seems like the PT-H100 has a nice printer but seems to waste a lot of tape for every label made as a blank area on either side of printed part can add up to not efficient use of tape, but means Brother sells more tape. I would say 20% of the tape coming out of machine is white space.
I would like to change size but cannot figure out how to do that easily. Overall I like having convenience, just not sure how efficient it is with so much tape wasted.

Eats Up Batteries!!!

Although this label maker produces very clear labels, it EATS up batteries!!! When I put in new batteries and use it only one time (with multiple labels being made at one sitting), the power switch is turned off. The next time I go to use it, the batteries are DEAD!!! This happens EVERY time!!!
I agree with the comments about wasted labels at the beginnings and ends of the tape mentioned by others. The same thing happens with another Brother machine I have (PT-2730). Lots of "dead" space at both ends of the tape.
It's a shame that batteries last such a short time with the handheld model. It's expensive to replace six AAA batteries every time I go to use it!
Now I know why OfficeMax had them on sale for under $10! They must own stock in a battery company!

Price is Right

It's hard to beat the price. I would like to ask Brother to make it both a plug in to an electrical socket as well as battery driven. Six batteries is a bit much when the user is close to a electrical socket.

Too much whiz band and not easy access to dashes, slashes, etc. that was upper case on my old P-Touches. Also harder to erase whole lines.

Don't buy label makers from Brother
on February 16, 2015

The PT-H100 worked fine for a few months. Then inexplicably, it would drain the batteries and not work. I bought new batteries. It worked, but the next time I used it, it didn't. Tried this several times, each time with brand new batteries. Customer service implied that the batteries were at fault, not the device. Not true. It so happens this also happened with my last Brother label maker. It was out of warranty (by a month or so), so they referred me to an "authorized repair service" who advised it would be more expensive to repair the device than buy a new one. I thought then that perhaps it was a fluke and gave Brothers one more chance with the P-Touch H100. Obviously not the case. Am very dissatisfied.

Some flaws
on June 15, 2014

The biggest problem with the label maker I bought is that is wastes a LOT of very expensive tape every time it is used. The label maker puts a 1 inch strip of blank tape to the left of whatever is printed. I called Brother and I was told that there is no way to reduce this huge left margin. I would not recommend this label maker because of this terrible and expensive waste.
