Other reviewers don't know how to use a printer??

I don't typically leave reviews but I saw the negative comments and felt like I should "stand up" for this printer.
*First off, it's a printer, not a scanner. So yes that is why it does not scan to your computer. Windows is stupid to give you the option .. as the printer literally can not do that.
*The copier works amazingly fast and great if you "know" what you are doing. I guess if it was the first time using a copier, it could be confusing.. but from standby, I can have a front/back (2 page -> 2 page) copy made in <30 seconds. Just click the energy saver button to take it out of sleep and select the type of copy you want (i.e, if you want to copy a two sided page and you want it to be front/back (2 sided) on the copy -> select 2-sided to 2-sided). When you click the start/green button, this *only* scans (you could scan more then just those 2 pages to its memory) and when you finished scanning, click the "ok" button to click on start copy .. as you know, you're starting/printing the copy, get it?
*Drivers/software can be annoying to setup on windows/linux but once you have them downloaded and the printer properly installed, you should be set. This assumes no other programs (or people OR Windows) changes your settings.
*You can get cheap toner replacements but obviously they are not as good as the originals. But for the price, considering the printer comes with a sample toner (which got near the 2k pages for me), it's well worth the money either way.
*I purchased one for my house (I use it from general printing to printing large reports for school to printing shipping labels) and have it setup on linux server (using CUPS) where I can share my printer with my network and then also outside my network (so I technically made it a wireless from anywhere printer). In reality, most non-technical users can also do this by connecting their google account to whatever computer the printer is plugged into and using cloud print .. then you got a cheap wireless printer!
*Since I was pleased with my purchase, I have since gotten 3 more for other family members and set them up for them (I even used the google cloud print for them, so I can attest it works well, but the computer has to be on, or else you can not use that feature).
Obviously this is not the best printer by any means, but in reality it has (or can be made to have) most of the features that printers double it cost.
PS: I do a lot of scanning myself, but I do enough where it was worth my while to buy a full pledged duplex scanner (it cost double what this printer costs). So if you need a scanner, then you may want to look elsewhere. But also keep in mind you can get a single page scanner for $20; so would it really be worthwhile? Or do you really need/want to waste money on a color printer (and the ink as it does dry up too)?

No replacement for the MF3110
on November 13, 2015

Scanning software is virtually unusable. Between the 530 and Microsoft 7 a 10 minute job on the MF3110 and XP has turned into a two hour ordeal.

One Page!

I bought this printer new, followed the easy set up and unpacking instruction. I printed one page then left it on for the first 24 hours as instructed to charge the internal battery for the clock. A day later shut it off. Three days later went to use it. Turned on the power button, it made the sound of starting but the screen was only backlight no text. I send a print to it and no printing occurred. So I powered it down, unplugged it, left it for a few minutes then plugged it in, pushed the power button. Still had the sound of a laser printer starting but the screen was not even backlight anymore. I hit the reset, nothing. Read the troubleshooting, nothing applied. Found a button in the back, pushed it, nothing. Tech service has east coast hours now closed. Back to the store it goes. What a waste of time.
