I can not recommend this range top.

I can not recommend this range top. It is not suitable for cooking. The burners have ten settings, from LO (1) to HI (10). The LO causes a slow boil, while settings 2 to HI cause a fast boil. There is no simmer, or warm without boiling. Even a low setting of 2 or 3 will cause liquid to boil. The only way to stop a boil is to turn off the burner. However the burners stay hot for a long time. Users have to move the pans off the burners, let the contents cool down, and then slowly move the pans back onto the burner. Once the burner has cooled down so the pan’s contents are not burning, then turn the burner back on. When the contents boil, turn off the burner and repeat. This requires constant attention to the state of each pan and burner, and is very difficult if heating up several pans. If this is not how the range top is supposed to work, then GE needs to send someone out to my home to repair the range top under warranty.
The ceramic range top is scratched far too easily. If the pans have a smooth base, it is possible, with care, to turn them or gently slide them. What can not be done is tilt them. The edge of the pan will cause a permanent scratch on the ceramic surface. Placing and removing pans has to be done with a vertical lift, keeping the pans completely horizontal. This is very difficult if the pan contains half a gallon of water and two pounds of potatoes. You try lifting this without tilting it! The range top is sold for the purpose of cooking, but then we can not use pans on it as we normally would. If something is sold for a purpose, it should be fit for the purpose. If it is not, it is the fault of the manufacturer, not the customer. Being unable to move pans over the top is absurd. It was one thing when Teflon pans said to use plastic implements, but we can not use plastic saucepans on a range top. If the range top is sold to be used for cooking, we MUST be able to use it for that purpose. I had a stove with a ceramic range 25 years ago, and it did not scratch so easily. GE has gone backwards in usability. I can not recommend this range top. It can not be used properly for cooking.

I wouldn't buy this if I knew then what I know now. It scratches far too easily, it's difficult to keep it looking clean (smudge marks all the time), and it takes a long time to heat up.
Since it's been installed, it's not exactly easy to be returned to the store so I'll live with it and get used to it but I would never buy it again.

Already broke after two months

Bad Decision

I am very disappointed with this cooktop . The heat range knobs are so light and faded you can hardly see which degree you set the temperature. Also the heat elements don't get very hot or stay a steady temperature. I've had it for several months and I'm already to looking to replace it.

Cooktop finish is poor quality

We replaced the same older model GE cooktop but the quality is so much poorer than the one we had to replace because of a lengthwise crack
The older one had a surface that was amazing to keep clean
The new one has a horrible surface and always looks marked and/or dirty!
We are sorry we made this purchase

Left Front Burner Went Out After 1 Week

Everything is great except left front burner went out after 1 week, waited all day for technician who gave me part numbers to order, ordered parts which never arrived. Extremely dissatisfied.

Hard to Clean

EVERYTIME you cook on this top, you have to get out the scotch brite scrubber and cleaner. The scraper that comes with it scratches the top deeply. So, after using it one time....it's got gouges and scratches I'll have to look at until it breaks. Terrible.
