I love Final Fantasy 7. This movie was mind-blowing when it was released almost a quarter century ago. The plot is really for the most hardcore FF7 fans, otherwise, I could see how some people would get a little bored with it. But the action scenes are as good as you'd expect them to be. At the time, this was the first glimpse of the modern iteration of the FF7 characters and world (which I believe are the basis of the new FF7 Remake). In 4k, the movie looks gorgeous. You may be able to tell it's age a little easier in UHD, but it's still worth a watch, especially if you're a fan of the series.

Some will critique this movie and if it is required/essential for FF7 fans. Short answer is that it isn't essential for fans of the original... but for those of us that adored the original cast more than words can express, this movie fills the heart with joy and gives closure in my eyes to an awesome set of characters.
... until FF7R is revealed as something of a sequel after all. :)
