Overall this is a good basic flat screen tv.We could not afford anything more than $450.The only thing that is not real good for the money is the speaker system.It's average at best.I was able to find the settings for optimal viewing on a review.The blacks are on the dark side.I was fortunate to get a higher level LG when I had more money so that is what i compare it to.If you are on a tight budget and don't want to wait to save for a 600 - $700 dollar LG and can get this one at a good price you won't be disappointed.It's good for the average viewer.LG is always a great TV.

Great picture on this model. Had to take the first one back as the picture was 'broken' - could only see a small part of the screen and the rest looked like it had come from an Etch-a-Sketch. No problems replacing the unit, this one works fine. Would be nice to have more than 2 HDMI hook ups, but the picture is great

I just purchased the Lg 42 LED 1080 120 Hz tv and it plays like a charm. No regrets here. I couldn't believe the simplicity and ease of unpacking and setting this unit up. I found the instructions to be very user friendly and the tv had basically a plug and play out of the box design. Lg gets high scores in my opinion for design, simplicity, and quality. Registering your Lg purchases is very easy too thru their website. It didn't take me but just a couple of minutes.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Quality

This is a first rate TV. The picture is stunning and super clear! Sound is a bit thin but a sound bar made it truly theatric. It replaced a plasma 42" (brand X) and goes miles beyond the old one with a much smaller "footprint". It scales wonderfully to the room. The old one had a very much bigger overall frame which didn't fit its' place in living room well. The plasma also weighed in at about 60 lbs.!
I have LG computer monitors that impressed me so much that, in shopping for a new TV, LG was my first choice!
The picture on this TV is, well, I'm running out of superlatives! Crystal clear, vivid color reproduction, effortless installation, pure detail focus.
This is a great choice and the price is a very good value too.

our experience was very good with this set. No difficulties in setting it up. We wanted this size without a lot of extra expense for features we would not use. this is perfect for us. I would buy another one.

120 Hz, great picture and sound! We had already purchased a Roku 1 and had Amazon Prime so getting a "Smart" TV didn't seem necessary. A simple TV controller to select source (Only two HDMI ports), AV for red/yellow/white RCA cable inputs and antenna for over-the-air broadcasts (which is what we are currently using). There were some complaints about the sound quality and volume (which is true about other brands), but sound seems fine with two installed speakers at the base of the TV? The 120 Hz seems crisp/clear for sports (Hockey/Baseball/Golf/Cycling) and haven't noticed blurring - which, I was really worried about. So far the TV has been great and was one of the less expensive units for it's size.
