Don't waste your money

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 2 years and 7 months old - picture goes - blank screen. From reading other reports, seems to be a common fault. I have other LG products in the house and all work well - that's why I bought their TV - never again will I buy LG products.
Pros: Style/Design, easy to use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great picture

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After reading other reviews I was shocked to find almost everyone had the exact same problem at the same time, two years after purchase (!) the screen goes black suddenly, yet the sound was un affected. Sounds like a design fault built in to purpose. I guess that sounds crazy, but look at the reviews and judge for yourself.
Pros: easy to use

LED Backlight failed after about 4 years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Switched on the TV last night, got sound but black screen. Apparently a common problem with the LG 42-series is LED backlight failure, based on the numerous comments & YouTube videos showing how to replace the LED strips. Am currently exploring other brands to replace this LG. It was good while it lasted but didn't last.
Pros: Performance

Backlight gone out after 3 years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The backlight (bad LEDs) on this TV went out after just 3 years. The repair is very expensive because the entire TV has to come apart. Not worth it. Seems to be a common problem with LG. Buying another TV. Guess what brand it WON'T be. I will never buy another LG TV ever again.

This is a piece of junk. Had it for two weeks and as many times had to take it back to the dealer. NEVER again will I buy LG!

While this TV did not have all the bells and whistles in a smart TV, it was what I was looking for. The overall TV is very good, but I do have some complaints about the picture in the gray, black aspects. It is not clear and dark scenes can be very dark where you cannot make out figures, shapes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this so many moons ago over 10 years. My son was 4 now he is 17. The only thing about this tv I can’t do what my smart tv does.like the WiFi aspect of watching YouTube and when I watch videos on YouTube it doesn’t show up....if anyone has learned how to do this on this tv please give me directions. Thank you! Other than that it’s a long lasting good tv that still looks the same and good coloring after 10 years@,,,
