DESTROYS CLOTHES

I have had this stupid machine repaired 3 times, now going on 4. They refuse to replace it, it is making me sick to my stomach with stress. Not only does this machine leave black streaks on everything, it tears up my clothes and my linens. I have HAD it with this model and I honestly expected more from GE. As far as I am concerned, they could care less. The attached photos are brand new items that were destroyed in less than 3 months of owning. These are just from my most recent load of laundry, the list of actual damaged items is at least 20 items.

dryer leaving black marks on clothes
on August 3, 2016

The dryer has been leaving black marks on our clothes since we bought it. Also clothes are getting pinched between the drum and dryer. We have had three service calls. We live at the beach and the tech stated that these dryers have a problem with sand. After the first service call we tried to make sure clothes were sand free before we dried them but nothing seems to work. The black marks are permanent and are ruining our clothes. During the last service call GE said they could no longer do anything and would charge us in the future. Tech stated that they needed a fix but GE didn't offer. Tech has been nice but there seems to be no fix. I wish we new that this was a problem because I would not have bought this appliance.

Cheap Cheap Cheap

"Cheap Cheap Cheap"
Not Recommended
My wife & I purchased this washer/dryer for our vacation condo. The washer is "LOUD" and when the cycles change and you constantly hear loud "clicking" noises. The clicking noises are so loud, we cant wash in the morning or late evenings as it will wake up our children.
Also, on the 3rd use of the dryer, the cheap plastic handle broke off the dryer door. It appears that this handle was engineered on the cost reduction side of engineering. It's held in place with two (2) compression plastic tabs on the right side of the handle and BOTH tabs broke off. We cant open the dryer door now.
Plus the handle is made/engeneered for "right-handed" people. My wife and I are both left-handed and would normally open the door with our left hands, but the design of the handle prohibits approaching from the left side. The handle should have been "Open" from both sides accomodating both left & right handed users and secured on the door with something with a higher tensile strength than small plastic "L" shaped tabs have.
We now have to wait a week for a warranty service technician to take a look. I sincerely hope they have this part with them and we dont have to wait for the part to come in and endure a 2nd visit from the service rep.
Do not buy this washer/dryer combo...my wife and I are extremely disappointed. The 15 year old Whirlpool that this GE unit replaced ran more quietly and was better built. Why GE decided to cost reduce the handle and make that part out of PLASTIC which is a "high usage" part and takes a lot of stress with the continual opening of the dryer just befuddles us.

Nothing but problems
on December 17, 2016

I've had nothing but problems with this model and have had the repair person here 4x within the first month. First I had the problems with the dryer others have mentioned, it was tearing sheets and leaving black marks (burns?), snagging and ruining terry towels. Then when they "fixed" it by replacing a part near the door, they left the entire unit not working at all! Now the washer doesn't work, it keeps tripping the circuit and turning off (stopped full of water!), and the dryer doesn't have heat but is still snagging towels. I cannot keep missing work to wait around for the repair guy! DO NOT BUY THIS! YOU WILL REGRET IT! If you have the proper voltage, get separate stackable units with better reviews, even though they cost a bit more! I am trying to exchange this but am not having any luck. Dealing with the repairs has turned into a part-time job.

Very noisy

I purchased this stackable washer/dryer 3 months ago. I read many reviews before purchasing it and most people seemed to be satisfied with it's performance other then the noise it makes. I thought perhaps the noise issue was an exaggeration. It wasn't. The dryer is as quiet as any other dryer but the washer is extremely noisy. The noises that it makes causes me to feel like it's going to break at anytime. The wash cycle makes terrible grinding sounds and the spin cycle noise is often unbearable. I realize that the water levels in newer machines are set lower then what we've been used to in the past to conserve water, however, I think they are set too low. I've always thought that doing laundry was one of my easiest household chores but the noise of this machine causes me an anxiety for this chore that I don't appreciate. On a positive note, I am satisfied that the laundry does come out clean. I have always trusted the GE brand and have numerous GE appliances in my home. I do think that maybe they are cutting too many corners for the sake of saving energy and water in the production of newer appliances.

I work at an apartment complex have ordered around a dozen of these units. The transmissions on most of them have went out (making a loud roaring noise), most have went out in the first year of service others went out shortly after the first year. Would not recommend any buying this product

Water level too low to cover clothes
on March 4, 2017

I recently bought a condo that had this W/D already installed and am in the process of replacing it because it's useless for washing anything other than a tiny load. No matter what I put in it, the water level won't wet the top items till well into the wash cycle when the agitator finally pulls them down. I just put 3 towels, a couple of T-shirts, and some sox in, added detergent, and turned it on. Five minutes into the agitating cycle, I opened the lid and found that the blue detergent was still sitting on the top towel where I'd dumped it--the towel was still dry. The wash drum never fills more than 1/4 of the way. I understand water saving appliances, but this washer is beating up (agitating) dry clothes and failing to clean anything appropriately.

Great machine, needs tub seal design reviewed
on August 10, 2017

I love this machine, it cleans better than any of the other stacked laundry centers out there. However, there seems to be a huge problem. After a year, it seems like many of these have a destroyed tub bearing due to the tub seal leaking. A friend of mine is a maintenance supervisor and has replaced a few of these already after 1 year. My first machine died after 13 months, the new one is great. But why can't GE fix this? These are made by MABE appliances which has the same issue
I would recommend this to a friend!
