Great for tight spaces.

This unit replaced another one which I had for 20+ years. Both the washer and dryer have bigger capacities than previous, a real +. This unit unfortunately, broke down after 2 years of use. I was expecting it to last for a lot longer than that. Quite a surprise, and disappointing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Installation and set up was very easy

Just got it yesterday and the installation and operation manuals were well written and the process was very easy to complete. The first wash and dry cycles went very well. Very satisfied at the time.

My only complaint with this unit is the lint trap. It’s messy to clean as the loose lint falls out when removing the screen

I have owned this machine for less than a week. I bought this unit because I needed a washer and gas dryer that would fit in a very tight space. It definitely satisfies those requirements. Overall, it appears to be a sturdy and attractive little unit. The slanted panel between the washer and dryer is held on by two screws; when removed, it gives you exceptional access to the gas connection, decent access to the hot and cold water lines, and acceptable access to the exhaust duct. Whoever designed this machine deserves a raise.
The two reasons that I didn't give it 5 stars:
1) Drain hose is quite flimsy and came pre-installed. I would have replaced it with a more substantial hose, but the connection is recessed in the bowels of the beast. I didn't want to start taking the machine apart just to replace a brand new drain hose. Whoever was in charge of ordering materials doesn't deserve the raise they probably got.
2) There was a bolt in the wash tub. When I found it, it was lodged under the agitator and required vise-grips to retrieve. The machine was brand new, cut out of the unblemished box right in front of me. The machine runs smoothly and quietly and none of the visible bolts are missing. I'm guessing somewhere along the assembly process this bolt was dropped in without being noticed or could not be retrieved. Whoever was in charge of assembly or quality assurance deserves a demotion

For our new home this works perfectly

We moved into a smaller home and to save space we purchased this GE washer/dryer. I read lots of reviews and picked this one because of its size and the fact that I am able to use my regular soap. It took awhile to adjust to the water level being so low but the clothes look and smell clean so I guess I've been using way to much water after all. It does make a strange sound as it goes through the cycles but after a while you don't really notice it unless your standing right by it. I'm very satisified with my purchase.

This machine is much smaller than my last one with less capacity. It is also very noisy which is A problem when you live in a condo.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
