Works hard like a heavy duty washer/dryer!

After "babying" the old laundry center along for 22 years, we recently purchased a new one. As our space is limited, I chose another laundry center, this time a GE, as this company has been producing washer and dryers for many years. WOW! Was I ever surprised to find the ease of use and multiple functionality of this machine. Thank you GE for a reliable laundry center.

Excellent Washer, Dryer could be better

I got this unit 5 months ago. Overall I like it very much, but there are a few issues with the dryer that appear to be quality control issues. The first unit I got was defective, the washer making a horrible vibrating sound. It may have been dropped or something, so I'll give GE the benefit of the doubt for that. It's important to note however, that I had the same problem with the dryer on the replacement as well. Specifically, anything with drawstrings or tassels has a good likelihood of getting caught in between the drum and a plastic trim piece around the 1 o'clock position. This of course twists the drawstring until it pulls loose or breaks, ruining the garment. I've gotten around this by drying items with drawstrings and the like in washing bags to protect them. This plastic trim piece has a few rough edges and burrs, and has a generally poor fit, so it could be a quality control problem. The same plastic is used in the lint screen frame. It too has rough, sharp corners and edges that tend to catch lint, requiring you to vacuum out the lint screen frame and it's receptacle after every 8 or so loads. My mom's dryer from 1968 had a better lint trap design....this is just poor design and quality. The dryer is big and dries well, however. No complaints there. The Washer does a great job, even with big loads. You do have to occasionally have to re-balance a load for it to spin correctly. I wonder in this day and age why it just keeps trying to spin, making a racket instead of stopping with a beep to warn you. 1968 lives on in that respect. I like the electronically controlled water temperature. Hot is Hot, Warm is Warm, Cold is Cold regardless of the water pressure. The "Deep Rinse" is kind of a funny feature. Turn it off if you want the possibility of soap in your clothes, I guess. The machine seems q=well-built. I hope it lasts as long as the last one I bought 8 years ago.

Light Duty ONLY!

This machine works great for washing a few things. Put more than that in it and it goes wildly out of balance. Mine was so out of balance that it broke itself.

This appliance is vastly inferior to prior stackable washer/dryer machines we have owned and currently own.
