perfect for 2nd floor laundry

I had a front loader HE set (another brand) that nearly destroyed my floors with vibration and load balancing. This GE W/D is the right direction for spinning for wood-frame construction, and I'm surprisingly pleased with the quality of this unit. I hadn't used a stacked unit since a rental several years ago... this model is relatively quiet, spins quite thoroughly, and the gas dryer dries fast. I've only had one un-balanced load (entirely due to my fault) and I was able to stop the load and open the lid to remove the too heavy blanket. Capacity is quite large ... all in all, a great machine!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Purchased the w/d in November after our old one went bananas. No complaints except that the lid to the washer stopped locking after about two months... so we have to listen for the first part of the cycle to stop, then restart it holding the lid down. I suspect it's an easy fix that we simply haven't looked in to... But overall, nice. It's more efficient and works well in our tiny utility closet.

Size to fit small space

We were having trouble finding just the right size stackable washer and dryer to fit the small space and yet had a large tub for both washer and dryer. This item is perfect and also looks great as it is in a small apartment kitchen.

Nice and compact

We bought this a couple of months ago and has a problem with the wash cycle going into the rinse cycle. It took a month to get if working right, but now we are happy with the washer and dryer combo.

Black Marks on Clothes

We had major space constraints. This was one of the only units that would fit in our space, and we wanted a top loader due to a persistent mold issue we had with a previous (non-GE) machine. Tomorrow it will have been installed for 1 month and today I noticed the black marks showing up on white clothing/sheets that I read in other reviews. I'm very disappointed by this because I have no other complaints about the unit. If it's going to end up ruining clothes, it's not worth having. I hope GE has a solution.

The dials and settings are easy to use but not pleased with the washer. Clothes don't come out smelling clean and the washer sounds like it's straining to move.
