The sound quality was terrible. Static on every channel I tried plus occasional buzzing sound. Even the channels with no signal were terribly noisy with static.

The transmitter works very well when it was turned to a station with a lot of static. The only thing I don't care for about the transmitter is how it just hangs and the only place you can put it is in your lap or cup holder and causes scratches.

I have been researching FM transmitters for my iPod for about a month before purchasing this one a couple days ago. I will admit I thought after looking up products and asking friends it sounded like every single transmitter was a waste of money and the music would sound nothing like how it's suppose to especially for how much the transmitters are one would think that they would be receiving a good product...Well after purchasing this item I immediately took it to my vehicle to test it out and i was very SURPRISED on how well it worked...When driving around testing out the clarity of the product if i received static it was very little and only occurred for a second between songs (and that only happened once). Needless to say I'm very glad that I purchased this item for $60 rather than forking over $100 for how some are.
What's great about it: Easy to setup and clear for being a FM transmitter

This product works only when radio frequencies aren't all spoken for on your FM radio. The product only works if it can find a 100% static station with no signal. I live in the Bay Area where there is no such thing. Therefore, I spent $100 on a product that doesn't work. I returned it after 10 minutes of owning it. That said, if you live in small town, USA you just might love this product since it can and will work under the correct conditions.
What's great about it: The concept is great. The reality not so much.
What's not so great: It doesn't work in big cities (like the one I live in).

This is a really great idea, but all the kinks haven't been ironed out. I am always having to flip through stations trying to find a new one that will work. Also, I find it plays certains type of music better than others, which can be annoying.
What's great about it: It is a great idea for playing your Ipod through your car stereo.
What's not so great: hard to find stations to transmit through

I've had XM radio for years and it went through my car stereo via an FM transmitter, so I know they work. This one didn't! What I heard was a weak signal and a lot of static. I tried it in a friends car and got the same results. I tried numerous different stations, and they all gave poor sound quality. I don't know how much juice this unit puts out, but its weak for sure. I took it back the next day and got a Belkin. Its better, but still not really clear like it should be.

I was very disappointed in this product and returned it shortly after buying it. It does NOT go down to 87.9 (stops at 88.1), which made it hard for me to find a clear station. Furthermore, whenever I turned on my car, the device automatically turned on my iPod (which I leave plugged into the device all the time), even if my radio was not on.
I bought a Belkin version when I returned this Griffin and have been very happy with it - still no 87.9, but at least it doesn't automatically start my iPod. Go with Belkin instead!

in order to set on international setting you must press and hold all three buttons at the same time (smart scan, plus and minus button). the first thing that apears when you hold these buttons in is the choice between LX and DX mode. Keep holding in the buttons and then it will start to flash "US'... once this happens change it to "INTL" and your good to go.
