Does not come in clear, lowers volume on its own

This is the second one of these I've owned. The first ones wires became exposed after less than a year. Best Buy refunded my money. I had to get this second one because it isn't breaking after one day like others I have tried. But this one seems to be the same as my first in regards to sound quality (wires aren't exposed yet on this one)
It is hard to find a clear channel. There is always static in the background.
Other people's FM transmitters in cars near me have a stronger signal and I end up hearing their music instead of mine (wish I knew what transmitter they were using).
For some reason, the volume will lower itself slightly no matter if the song is a loud song or a softer song. I've read that is common with transmitters so they don't damage hearing, but I don't recall reading that safeguard on the packaging. And it lowers the volume even if the song is soft and the volume is already down. Really frustrating when you're getting into a song and it quiets itself.
Only reason it's getting 2 stars and not 1 is because I can't really find any other similar priced transmitters that aren't from some sketchy internet company. At least Best Buy will keep replacing them if they break or suck.
