I have had this product for about a year and before throwing it away I wanted to write a review. The product simply does not work well even in remote areas when driving. I honestly do not think I got through one song on my iPhone without some sort of static or completely loosing signal.
If you are interested in using a product to listed to your iPhone in the car, this one is not it. It is just an expensive car charger
What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Did not hold a signal to listen to songs
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this before a long road trip thinking maybe perhaps these were actually useful. Even in the middle of nowhere... (Northern Nevada) I still had static. No where I mean no where did this thing actually work.

This thing is completely useless. It is simply incapable of broadcasting a static-free signal to the cars radio antenna 2 feet away. How sad is that. Total garbage.
I live in a smaller city with 5 or 6 radio stations, and travel by car a lot. It constantly sounds like you have tuned a radio station on the fringe of it's range.... just background static all the time. If you turn the music up real, REAL loud, you won't hear the static as much if you're in the middle of nowhere, but if you want to listen to a podcast talk show anywhere, you can forget it.
They need to make this thing WAY more powerful so it can broadcast to the cars antenna. The "smart scan" feature has never worked. It actually does the opposite of what it's supposed to sometimes.
What's great about it: Nothing's "great" about this product.
What's not so great: Needs a longer cord so you can drape it out the window and wrap it around the car antenna.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I live where radio reception is sketchy at best, I am 60% deaf, techno illiterate, and this gadget allows me to really hear and listen to my "old lady" music with ease. Playlists on my ipod come in handy for when I have my grand-daughter with me so she doesn't have to listen only to "Granny" music.
The best thing is, once it is set up, you can just drive and not fiddle with anything to find what you want to listen to. Added bonus - it charges your ipod.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am very impressed with this product. I have an ipod video and an ipod nano and it works great with both. I use it everytime I am in the car and have never heard any kind of static. The sound is amazingly clear and it is very easy to find a radio station to play the ipod through.
PROS
~The long cord allows anybody in the car to control the ipod.
~The itrip itself is very easy to use.
~static free
~charger keeps ipod fully charged at all times
CON
~when you turn the car on/off the ipod automatically turns on when plugged into itrip.
What's great about it: static free, charges ipod
What's not so great: none

At first I was wary about purchasing this product because so many people had commented on having difficulties with similar products. However, I love this fm transmitter and use it frequently when I'm driving on the highway since my car is not equipped with a cd/cassette player and I don't have the patience to switch radio stations every time I enter a new state. The only issue is that sometimes, in more city like areas (like my hometown), there are too many radio stations, which makes it difficult to find a radio station that can enable me to play music from my ipod. Other than that, I have no complaints. The sound is good, and I hardly ever get any static.
What's great about it: sound quality, easiness of use, reliable
What's not so great: occasional static in areas with an abundance of occupied radio stations; possible driving distraction

Great product. The price is a little high but there is almost no static. One of the best Fm transmitters. I was scared to buy any FM transmitter because of the static and price but I bought this and was pleased.
What's great about it: Charges ipod
What's not so great: Price and no holder

This FM transmitter is very easy to use and has the added benefit of powering itself while also capable of charging your iPod. As compared to the iPod powered Griffin iTrip that has no cabling, this provides somewhat better signal quality but cannot be used unless plugged into an active car charger. With these systems, it can be a challenge to find the correct station as well as having consistent quality while traveling through cities or past other vehicles using similar (and sometimes more powerful) technologies. good luck!
What's great about it: Charges iPod, easy to use.
What's not so great: Inconsistant sound quality
