Good movie, awful Blu-ray

While Saw itself is a good film, and offers unique twists and the chance to get yourself out of any predicament if you're willing to go the distance, I cannot recommend the Blu-Ray release.
I purchased hoping the interactive menus and extras would be more than printed on the back of the box, but sadly, there really is nothing but the film on this disc. Theatrical trailers, a staple of bonus content for DVD and Blu-Ray special features, don't even make it in.
All in all, this feels like a very rushed product, as if Lionsgate just wanted to cash in on the Saw craze before Halloween without putting anything but the film itself on the disc.
What makes this most upsetting is that the regular release of Saw on DVD has a plethora of bonus features that didn't make it over to the Blu-Ray.
I DO NOT recommend this Blu-Ray
What's great about it: Story is very clever, can be viewed as either horror or murder mystery
What's not so great: Blu-Ray is absolutely bare bones, no extras at all, whatsoever
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A Twisted Delight

Critics have never seem to embrace the Saw movies as the consumers do... I have found that people who at least somewhat enjoy horror/thriller movies come to LOVE these movies for all thrill. The critics seem to find all the bloodshed and human torture displeasing. I keep up with all the Saw movies because it becomes an addiction, even though the 3rd and 4th cannot live up to the first 2.
Now, yes, it is excessively bloody... although I believe Saw (the first one) is the least bloodiest so far, however, I think that's what adds to the scariness. Other horror movies rely on the supernatural to strike fear into our hearts, while this movie startles us by testing mortality... How fragile we are as humans, after all! It can get to be a bit uncomfortable. I watch it for the mystery.
It's a great interactive movie, watch it with friends at night for a spook.
Basic plot:
A serial killer meticulously chooses his victims, who have specific problems in life, to play a game with him... a game of life and death. The victim has to overcome his problem in order to live, but most end up dying a bloody and torturous death. The police are on the serial killer's tail, but Jigsaw (the killer's nickname) has such an ingeniously twisted plot against any who threaten his plans that viewer's at home don't know what to expect.
That's all I can really say. Confusing? Yes.
The plot is GREAT! The problem is, the film was made on a low budget, so they could not hire great actors for the part. The movie is excellent but could be better if they had more natural/convincing actors.
If you haven't seen it, give it a shot! The movie is getting old now, but with a Saw V coming soon, new Saw fans are always welcome! Start with the first one!!
What's great about it: excellent plotline with a great twist, very unique, thought-provoking
What's not so great: human torture, quite bloody, not suitable for children at all, decent to poor acting
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great horror film. Original plot, keeps you on the edge. Weak hearted be aware. Excellent sound and picture quality decent. Worth $9.99 to add to your Halloween collection.
What's great about it: Never see it coming

This was my first time seeing this movie, and I really dug it! For some reason I always thought it was just a long Marilyn Manson or Tool video type of movie but I was wrong. It definitely was worth watching and kept my interest. The PQ and SteelBook look fantastic!

My wife and I love these movies, they just get better and better. If you haven't seen any of the movies in this epic series, you definitely want to start here. The movies are actual just one big movie, seperated into segments, kind of like The Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. Skipping any one of these movies could cause you to be really confused. I say grab this movie and start 'playing the game'! I highly recommend it!
What's great about it: Great way to get the series started.
What's not so great: Couldn't find anything.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love this movie! Great twists, original in its time, and interesting plot. This Blu-Ray, however, is incredibly lacking. I would have liked to see interviews, screen tests, commentaries, etc. Not even a theatrical trailer. No special features at all. The transfer was ok. The movie is gritty on its own, so, the transfer is a little difficult to evaluate. The sound on my home theater sounded just mediocre. It's as if this movie was put on Blu-Ray just overnight just to sell the Blu-Ray.
What's great about it: It was super cheap and its a great movie.
What's not so great: the disc is SEVERELY lacking
I would recommend this to a friend!
