superb sci-fi shocker

Although he deservedly became a star with Conan The Barbarian, Arnold Schwartzenegger became a superstar as the title character in this flick. He's an unstoppable android killing machine sent from the future to kill a woman whose actions are destined to eventually lead to the destruction of those who built Arnold. However, she gains an ally in a soldier, also sent from the future.
Both Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn (the woman & soldier, respectively) are instantly likable and sympathetic. Hence, our fear of Arnold's Terminator exemplifies as he persues them throughout the film.
Even the police officers (played here by Paul Winfield & Lance Henriksen) aren't the cliched, pompous movie cops often seen, but are actually a bit more thoughtful and intelligent.
Although the film itself has a relatively low budget, it's SFX are still first-rate, and the ending is actually more downbeat that it at first appears.
The film's director, James Cameron, also scored his first hit with this film, which led to other classics from him such as Aliens and Titanic.
What's great about it: the acting, directing, pacing
What's not so great: nothing I can think of

This is a classic sci-fi film. A robot from the future comes back in time to kill Sarah Conner so that John Conner can never be born to destoy the Terminators in a future battle between mankind and the Terminators. The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzanegger) is a robot with skin over the top to appear human. It is a great film and a classic. The story is cool and the action is even better. You will love this film and I would buy T2 and Terminator 3 as well you will not be disappointed
What's great about it: Arnold Schwarzanegger as the Terminator
What's not so great: nothing

This is a classic action movie. This starts the series off with a darker light than the 3rd and 4th of the franchise (which is a good thing), and really makes you feel for the characters. I think all should see this movie. I would give it a 4.5 out of 5, but unfortunately that is not an option.

The movie that started James Cameron's epic legacy! The Terminator is an incredible mix of action, sci-fi, story, and special effects. It also aided in turning Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Lance Henrikson into iconic stars. The DVD has the trailers for the film, TV spots, deleted scenes, and commentary. Also like Terminator 2, the menus are animated and take place inside of Skynet. This is a great movie and the extras make it even better. See it!
What's great about it: multiple extras, nice transfer, good price
What's not so great: N/A
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is one of the best movies ever, and is certainly Arnold's best. Linda H. is much better in this movie than in T2. This was real low budget, so don't expect a 5.1 soundtrack -- the film was recorded in mono. If you try to simulate surround sound from mono, you get junk, so I applaud the studio for keeping it mono.

What's great about it: One of the best thrill rides of its genre
What's not so great: HD transfer should have been better

As a big action movies fan, this is always on my top list. And the remastered version makes it even better!Highly recommend!
