Good, but not for cold basements .....

Does a great job during the summer months when the basement is around 70 degrees. But don't expect it to do much when the basement temp falls to the 50s. Oh, it will run; ice up; thaw itself out with just the fan running and then the compressor will start up again and the whole cycle repeats. The problem is that the compressor only runs a short while before icing up again. Very little water is removed in the course of 24 hours even with high humidity. For warm locations, this would work well,

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my dehumidifier. I got one for the attic, one for the basement and one for the garage. The difference is palpable. The rooms are dry and free of humidity. Love them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased about one month ago. The carpets in our home used to feel like something had been spilled. They are nice and dry now. We've also been able to turn the A/C a degree or two warmer and now that it's drye, feels much cooler.

Gives off too much heat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I bought it I didn't realize the heat it produced. The air coming out of the vents was over 100 degrees.

Oh my, scrounger! I am sorry you have had this experience with your dehumidifier. It is very typical for your unit to be warm to touch when in use. This is an appliance that is pulling moisture from the room’s air that requires both a compressor and fan to run quite often. It is also normal that the unit “puts off hot air” from the ventilation louvers. It is recommended that the room have air circulating (ceiling fans or ac unit) and sufficient space around the unit to prevent too much warm air staying in one place. If you believe the unit has been running hot for too long, unplug it for 1-2 hours to let it cool down, and retry again at a higher humidity RH% level in hopes to not over work the appliance. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Ruth

Great for Archives

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this dehumidifier a couple months ago or so to run nonstop in my archives in south Louisiana (where in our semitropical climate it's very humid). This Frigidaire has done an excellent job, and I can clearly see the impact it's having on the archives' environment, because I monitor the room's relative humidity using a hygrometer. Moreover, I can see a constant trickle of water from the garden hose I hooked up to the dehumidifier (to allow the water to empty directly outside the building). I can recommend this product based on my experience with it thus far.
