Works great, but disappointing life span

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this unit 3 years ago and it worked like a champ. It brought my Wisconsin basement from 80% humidity during prolonged periods of heavy rain/flooding down to 50% with constant operation over about 4 days a number of times. In between, it cycles off and on appropriately and keeps the basement living space as dry and comfortable as the upstairs with relatively quiet (though definitely not whisper-quiet) operation. Our last dehumidifier worked for about 8 years before it died, so I was disappointed that this one only lasted 3, but I bought it again since it worked so well the first time. All appliances seem to have a shorter life span than they used to these days.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What a difference

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i can’t believe how well it works. Didn’t realize my basement was so humid until I used this dehumidifier. I had two older units in basement but this one is much more effective. I didn’t give it 5 stars because the catch basin is very awkward to empty and replace. If you use the drain hose instead than not an issue.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using this model for little over a month now and am very pleased with its operation. I purchased this unit to keep the humidity low in my 150 sq/ft workshop as I have some expensive tools and machinery that I don't want rusting. Even though my shop space doesn't necessarily need a unit this size I wanted a good size in case I ever need it for my house. Well low and behold just last week my AC went out where I needed to replace the unit, and this dehumidifier was perfect for the job. Placed it in the middle of the largest area of the house and it kept the humidity level at the 45% - the level I set it to. Again, very pleased with the operation of this product and how well built it is.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very satisfied

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the dehumidifier about a month ago. My basement is about 1000 sq ft. It pulled the humidity out in no time. I am very satisfied with the unit usually they have already broken. Wish it had a biult in pump for the price.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After researching all other products, we chose this make/model due to it's past engineering & the commitment to quality Frigidaire / Electrolux cares so passionately about with their products and we could never be more impressed with it's productivity. We thoroughly enjoyed the "continuous" run feature & sleeps once the desired humidity level has been set. Extremely quiet & literally draws gallons of moisture out of our 700 sq foot basement (estimate) via 50' standard garden hose hook-up. Thank you Electrolux for a well-built/manufactured machine that has lasted months and look forward to lasting years!!!

Exact replacement

I purchased this model just over five years ago. It lasted just past the extended warranty I bought (five years). The new unit I just purchased is the exact same unit. It works well but durability over the long term seems elusive. The vendor says it is due to the type refrigerant used. The secondary issue is is waste. I took the old unit to the transfer station. There were literally dozens of new look discarded units, of many brands, in the pile. I can't understand why these units cannot be made withe same durability as refrigerators. Supposedly the metals can be recycled, but the plastics?
