Poor longevity

I purchased one in fall of 2013 used it for a summer and a half then in 2015 it stopped taking moisture out of the air. Frigidgaire did at least replace it. Hopefully this one will last longer

Broke in two years!

They don't make things like they used to and in this case that's not good. The dehumidifier started freezing up becoming a big chunk of ice.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Outstanding purchase

I needed a dehumidifier for my basement, and read the reviews online that recommended this dehumidifier. My humidity meter said it was 73% before I turned this on. 6 hours later, it was in the 50s! I'm very pleased. It is as quiet as can be, I'm sure. After all, there's a fan in it pulling air through. Make sure you follow the instructions, and let it sit upright for 24-48 hours before you turn it on. I've read that with any dehumidifier, you have to make sure the oil is settled out of the compressor properly.

I've had this for a couple months so far, working in a large basement, and am happy with the purchase. My only quibble is that the hygrometer in it doesn't seem that accurate: it generally reads somewhat higher humidity levels than a couple other meters I put in the room. Easily dealt with by just adjusting the desired humidity level. Works great on the low setting in a large basement, and noise is not an issue. In reply to some questions, the fan does stop awhile after the compressor shuts off (it runs a bit longer to dry coils, and then it runs briefly now and then to check the humidity level). That is a plus to me. Frigidaire has two models with the same capacity; this is the older one. The published specs are very, very similar. Some may think the new one has a cleaner look. I chose this because of its airflow: on this the intake is in front, and it blows out upwards from the top; the new model's intake is in the rear, and it blows out the sides. With this model, I can keep it closer to the wall.
