Works great, kind of loud

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this Frigidaire dehumidifier a month ago and it works great, just as indicated. It has made a huge difference to the comfort level in my 1,620 sq ft home in our very humid environment. It's energy star rating is a bonus. My electricity bill went down since I can now keep my air conditioner on a reasonable setting instead of cranked to get the humidity down. The only down side is that it is kind of loud, but from all the reviews of various brands and product comparisons I read before deciding on this Frigidaire, I'm guessing that it may be less noisy than most.

Disappointed

This model has less options and is certainly more noisy than my last unit (different manufacturer). I've noticed after having it for weeks now, that even though it does get the basement's humidity down to a decent summertime percentage, it it reading 5% off of what a separate, quality hygrometer is reading six feet away at the same distance from the floor. I've had to compensate on what I set it at to make up for that. One more thing: it sure seems to be cycling on often--as much as within five minutes of when it turns off. I've moved it nearly to the opposite end of the basement from where the sump pump pit is. Perhaps that was triggering it to run so often? All I know is my previous unit kept things quite dry--as low as 45%--and never had to run as much. Also, on this one, the bucket does not easily fit back into place after emptying; it usually rests a bit cockeyed and you have to bang it flush with your palm. I wouldn't suggest this to a family member or friend, sad to say.

Quiet
