Perfect addition

Our new Frigidaire dehumidifier was a welcome addition after our basement was remolded following a flood in our home. We love it, as it does the job to keep our basement nice and dry.

The fan on the unit cycles on for a couple of seconds then off for a few more seconds and so on. It never shuts like it should.

Frigidaire stands behind their warranty as this is my fourth Frigidaire unit in 7 years. I've only had this one for two months but so far it is working well. I really like the improvements over the last unit I had. I like that the air blows out throught the top of the unit. Connecting a hose to the unit is much simpler than the the earlier units and it runs more quietly. I have set it for 40% humidity but the dial has never read below 50%. I have a second Frigidaire unit also running--the dial on that one displays 40% and it doesn't run continuously like the new unit does in spite of the fact that they are both in the same room.

Unit appears to do its job well. When set in auto-mode, unit frequently turns on and then immediately shuts back off. I'm assuming it has to do that in order to gauge the humidity in the air and when it determines the air is at the right level, it turns back off. I would think there would be a better way to do this without the fan actually turning on. Otherwise, I'm satisfied with the operation and functionality of the unit.

Very efficient at lowering basement humidity

We had a wet cement floored and cement block walled basement. It got so damp last year that there were standing puddles of water on the concrete floor.
When I first put this unit down there, the humidity level was around 75%. After running the dehumidifer for 8 hours or so, the level dropped to around 50%, and continued to decrease. I have it draining directly into a floor drain, and I could hear the water pouring down the drain from the hose. The unit is fairly quiet and does not rattle, even when running; it sounds similar to a 7000 BTU window air conditioner running at low to medium speed. I'm pleased overall with this unit. The plastic parts do seem as if they might turn out to be a bit fragile long term, though.
