I had a hard time getting used to playing this game, but with the help of the strategy guide i was able to pick it up fairly easy afterwards. It does have some very nice graphics and it is one of the best looking games of all time.
What's great about it: graphics, gameplay once you get used to it
What's not so great: getting used to the gameplay compared to previous FF

What can I say, that has not already been said. This game is fantastic on all levels. The gameplay, the story, the graphics. It really immerses you like a true final fantasy game should. True, you don't have to 'freedom' to roam like in previous titles, but this installment makes up for that in other ways. Any final fantasy fan would appreciate the length and depth of time and ingenuity that went into creating this game. Expect at least 60 hours of solid gameplay.Well done Square Enix. Can't wait for the next chapter.
What's great about it: Gameplay, Storyline, Graphics, Sound.

First let me say this, This game is for hardcore gamers. If you have a lot of free time on your hands and love grinding.. This game is for you. I had high hopes as this is the first Final Fantasy game since FF9 that I've played. The good things about the game include: Character models look lifelike ( hair and clothing move.) New combat system that is faster paced. Some of the bad things: The story is the same generic story. Voice acting will make you want to puke. The story is very linear with no open map exploration. You traverse one hallway to the next, just in a different scene. Monster and boss fights can go from extemely easy to full party annihilation in just a few steps. Overall I would say this is a must have for die hard fans but if you're a casual gamer, I would suggest renting it.
What's great about it: The grahpics and details are the best I've seen in any game. Animation is good.
What's not so great: The voice acting can be beyond terrible and cheesy, even by video game standards. Story is very linear.

I've read a lot of a reviews about this game and would like to give my opinion of it. In a lot of reviews people complain about the linear storyline. While the story is linear at first, it's not a bad thing. It allows you to focus on what needs to get done while taking all the tutorials. Once you reach a certain point in the story, it does open up to where you can wander, change your party members, etc.
Another complaint I've read is about the battle system. I have played almost all the other Final Fantasy games and have no complaints with this one. You will press X a lot in the beginning, but once you reach a certain point and you can switch job codes, there is more to it. Depending on the enemy, you may need to switch your paradigms and thus your roles. So there are options during battles. "Leveling up" is done with the Crystarium, similar to Final Fantasy X's sphere grid. It's pretty easy to understand if you take the tutorial. You can level up your character's different paradigm roles as you go along.
Other than that, this game has quickly become my favorite. I have 7 hours of gameplay so far and plan on playing it right after work. No complaints from me. Hope this helps some people.
What's great about it: Gameplay, graphics, tutorials
What's not so great: Haven't encountered anything yet

I was in awe of the graphics on this one from the opening scene. I am very much into graphics and this one hit spot on.
The story line is excellent. I only hate that there is no two player mode for my kid and I to adventure together, that would have saved me from having to buy copies (yes I did).
So far, both of us are still thoroughly enthralled with this game even though I have a feeling we are both coming to the end of the story.
This game is so good it will go onto a shelf and be broken out to be played again instead of being traded.
What's great about it: The graphis are the best I've ever seen

Final Fantasy XIII really is a fun game to play. It will give you many hours of play. As you play you become fast at changing the paradigm shift. This new way of fighting is fun. I appreciate that your character's power is replenished once the battle is over. If you are a FF fan this will be well worth your while.
What's great about it: Graphics and sound is like nothing before it
What's not so great: Linear no moving within the game at your own pace. The Game tells you where to go.

Great game, wonderful story and characters. Getting into the meat of the game shows great diversity for play options. Really is the hardest Final Fantasy to date and should not be tackled by beginners for the genre.
What's great about it: Character Development, Story

Final Fantasy XIII is a beautiful game with good characters and a strong storyline. Square Enix really created another universe with realistic graphics that are almost as good as the cut scenes. Hours of game play that keeps you wanting to play more.
What's great about it: Easy to pick up, difficult to master. Great story, fun gameplay.
