I don't understand what the complaints are about. The only bad things I've heard about this game and seeing it firsthand myself is the linear gameplay. Other than that, this game is challenging and it brings back the fun that I had when playing FF 7-9. If you didn't have a problem with FF10, you shouldn't have too much of a problem with FF13.
Though I enjoyed FF9-10, the replay value wasn't all that great for me. After FF7-8, I thought the FF series had lost the challenging aspect of the game. I was not a huge fan of FF12 at all because the battle system among other aspects was enough to drive me up the wall. However, after seeing this game and playing the Japanese version, I can say that Square Enix have redeemed themselves regardless of the linear aspect.
What's great about it: graphics, storyline, characters, challenging

THEY TOOK EVERYTHING THAT WAS GOOD ABOUT FINAL FANTASY AND JUST DESTROYED IT. Seriously i've been playing and beating games for 20 years and this game made me write my first review because it was just that bad. For the game itself no leveling up and no exploring it's terrible, And i just hope any hardcore ff fan will not make the same mistake i did and purchase this game.

If you like traditional role-play games, this is not for you. Unlike most RPG's, there's no leveling up. If you get to an enemy or boss and you can't beat it, you're stuck. You can't just go and level up to get stronger. The game forces you to follow a set path. This supposedly changes at chapter 11. Good luck getting to that point. It's tedious and boring. The characters have annoying personalities. The bottom line is: the game's just not fun. This was wasted money. I wound up selling the game after a few days and throwing away the guide.
What's great about it: Graphics are great
What's not so great: Linear. No leveling up. Annoying characters

If you are not a fan of fantasies, things that are final, or the number 13, you might like this game. If you like all 3 together, then you MUST get this game! It has them all!
What's great about it: It is the 13th. Do you really think they would be up to 13 iterations of a series if it sucked?
What's not so great: High price ($60!), lack of sword included

i been reasearching for this particular game and i think that it will be more of the same, ye i know fans will hate me but i find this as a shame related to real RPG games (like baldur's gate, kotor, or fallout 1&2) so personally im not goiung to pick this one up though i might play it eventually somewhere in my friends home, but if you ask my opinion? i dont recomend this
What's great about it: i been looking for some videos and the graphics look realy good
What's not so great: i dont like japanese based games (manga anime w/e)
